Jacqueline bit back a smile as Ethan ignored the silverware.
“Ethan,” Prescott began.
“Isn’t he doing a great job?” Jack nodded.
Rather than tell Ethan to use his fork, Prescott praised him. “Super job, bud.”
When dinner ended, coffee was served. Dessert stations were set up and the guests began migrating toward them.
“Sugar,” Jacqueline said, and Ethan jerked his head in her direction.
“Can I have some?” the tyke asked.
Prescott laughed. “I’ll get us something.”
“Can I see?” Ethan asked.
“Absolutely,” Prescott replied before addressing Jacqueline. “What can I get you, babe?”
“I’ll have a bite of whatever you choose,” she replied.
Ethan selected chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. Prescott, a piece of chocolate marble cheesecake. Returning to the table, he placed the dessert in front of her.
“I’ll eat what you don’t,” Prescott said.
He situated Ethan, sat himself, and handed Ethan a fork. “You can’t use your fingers, bud.”
No argument from Ethan who forked the cake into his mouth. “Yummy,” he said with a grin.
Jacqueline took two bites of the cheesecake, then passed it over.
“That’s it?”
She nodded. “I’ll have my own dessert at the wedding.”
“Me, too!” Ethan exclaimed.
Once servers had finished pouring coffees and teas, Hawk and Addison stood.
“Thank you for being here with us,” Hawk said. “We love you all.”
Everyone paused to clink glasses, then Hawk and Addison shared a loving kiss.
“We want tomorrow to be just as relaxed and fun as tonight,” Addison said. “This is a special weekend, and we’re so happy to be sharing it with you.”
Cheers and applause filled the room.
“Tomorrow, we’ve got a great band coming, but tonight we’ve got the best of Hawk’s playlist,” Addison continued. “Nicholas and I are dancing ‘til dawn.”
Prescott pushed out of his chair and raised his glass. “Here’s to Nicky and Addison. Two people who were meant to be together from the moment they met. I love you both.”
After everyone toasted the bride and groom, they sat back down.
“Who wants to dance with me?” Jacqueline asked.
“I definitely do,” Prescott replied. “How ‘bout you, Ethan?”
“No, fank you. I want to make sure Loki is okay.”
