She nodded. “This has been an amazing day, and I’m so grateful I got to share it with you.” Leaning up, she kissed him.
“There’s no child here and I’ve got a large, very empty bed, down below. Who wants a tour of my ship?”
“I’ll take one,” she replied.
After a brief tour, he brought her into his stateroom. “You deserve to be loved.”
“Are you the man to do it?”
“Yes. I. Am.”
They helped each other strip out of their clothes, and they fell into bed. He took his time, appreciating her, arousing her, pleasuring her. They loved each other until the ecstasy reached its pinnacle, and they surrendered to the sweet, sweet relief.
In the afterglow, they lay curled around each other, safe in their cocoon. They’d traded the mayhem for one love-filled evening.
“I could love you for a long, long time,” she murmured.
He kissed the tip of her nose. “I could love you forever.”
She smiled. “If you’re lucky, I’ll let you.”

Jacqueline
At nine o’clock, the following morning, Jacqueline eased down next to Prescott at the kitchen island, a mug of coffee in hand. She opened her laptop.
“You were right about yesterday,” she said. “It was perfect. Thank you.” She kissed his shoulder.
They’d returned home after dark, fed Loki, then retreated onto the dark screened-in porch where they made love under the stars. It was a perfect way to end a magical day.
“What time are you picking Ethan up?” she asked.
“My mom said he’s having a blast, so we’ll get him around one.”
Her phone rang. “Hmm, it’s my sister, Leslie.” She answered. “Hello.”
“Hey, Jacqueline it’s Leslie’s friend, Lou.”
“Hang on one second.” She tapped mute, then said to Prescott, “It’s my sister’s friend, the one I keep running into.” She put the call on speaker, then unmuted. “What’s going on?”
“Leslie wanted me to tell you she has the money she owes you. When can you swing by and pick it up?”
“Can I talk to her?”
“Sure.”
“Hey,” Leslie said. “What’s up?”
“You’ve got my money?”
“How much do I owe you again?”
“Five thousand.”
“You want me to leave it under the mat? Wait, hold on.” Silence, then Leslie came back. “He told me not to do that. Just come by.”
“I’ll swing by today.”
