“Baby’s great, but my body has been taken over by an alien.”
A familiar emptiness churned through him. Ignoring it, Hawk pushed on. “You’re, what, seven months?”
Liv beamed. “Eight.”
“You feel good?” he asked.
“I feelfantastic,” Jericho replied.
Hawk and Liv laughed.
“I’m doing great,” she said. “A little tired, but only because I’m so busy. Speaking of busy, I’m gonna print the bill of sale.”
As Liv pushed herself up, Jericho stood, and moved the chair out of her way. She leaned up and kissed his cheek. “See you boys soon.” She vanished down the hallway toward the office she shared with Addison.
Jericho sat, shifted his sights to Hawk. “How was Kerri’s wedding?”
“Nice. Hot as hell. The AC units in the tent weren’t getting the job done.”
Jericho drained the beer from his glass. “You didn’t answer my question. What’d goin’ on with you?”
“Nothing.”
“I hate when you lie to me.”
“Nothing worth mentioning.”
“It’s me you’re talking to.”
“I got pissed at Addison, so I kissed her.”
Jericho chuckled. “That’s one way to handle it. And?”
“It’s complicated.”
“You two are damn good together,” Jericho said.
“No shit,” Hawk replied. “I gotta make it right.”
“Why?”
“Now she’s madder than hell at me for kissing her.”

Addison parked in her spot at Lost Souls. As she exited her car, her phone rang with a call from Ronald Jenning.
She answered. “Hey, Ronald, what a surprise.”
“How’s my favorite CIA case officer?” he asked.
She laughed. “It’s good to hear from you. How are you?”
“Life is crazy, but good. We just moved, so the new house is all about finding our way around the boxes. Becky’s doing great. Kids are getting big. They really want a dog, but we’re holding out on that one.”
“Congrats on the move,” Addison said.
“I’m flying to DC this week for a bunch of meetings. You got time for lunch on Tuesday?”
