“Hell, yeah. This is the most important decision of our lives. I met your dad this morning at Rudy’s. I’m sorry I lied about meeting with Stryker, but I couldn’t tell you without inviting you… and I couldn’t do that.”
She kissed him. “You’re forgiven. Was he surprised?”
“Maybe, but he’s happy for us. He thinks we have what it takes for the long haul.”
Addison smiled. “Me too.”
They swung by the hospital. Livy was resting in bed. Jericho was holding Liam and whispering to him.
“What are you doing here?” Livy asked.
“I gotta meet my godson,” Hawk replied.
“How are you back on your feet after what happened yesterday?” Livy asked.
“Life’s too short to waste one second,” Hawk said as he took the infant from Jericho.
“Hi, Liam. I’m Nicky, your godfather. How you doing, little guy?” Hawk smiled down at him. “He’s beautiful. How are you feeling?”
“I feel great,” Jericho replied, and they laughed.
“Idiot,” Hawk said. “Liv, how are you?”
“Doing good. I’m ready to get Liam home. How are you?”
Hawk slid his gaze to Addison. “We’re doing great, don’tcha think, babe?”
“We got engaged,” Addison blurted.
Jericho grinned. “Now we’re talkin’!”
“Congratulations!” Livy exclaimed. “That’s so exciting.”
“Got a ring?” Jericho asked.
“Not yet.” Addison grinned. “That’s next.”
Jericho pulled out his phone. “I got you.” He made a call. “Nico, Jericho Savage. A close friend of mine got engaged.” Jericho listened. “Appreciate that. Hawk and Addison.” Jericho hung up. “Go to Nico’s in Chevy Chase. He’ll take care of you.”
After spending another hour with their godson, they took off for the jewelry store.
Nico welcomed them in, raved about Jericho.
“We love him too,” Addison agreed.
Nico ushered them to the engagement ring case. “We can use these as our starting point to create a custom ring. I’ll give you some time to look everything over.”
“These are beautiful,” she said, “but I don’t want an engagement ring.” She moseyed over to the eternity band case. “I’d like an eternity band.”
Hawk joined her. “It’s different. I like these.”
“Me, too,” she replied.
Nico pulled out several, and they sat at the fitting desk while she tried them on.
“I can also design a ring for you,” Nico explained. “Will you both be wearing a wedding band?”
“Yes,” they answered in unison.
