“Yeah, about that, I’m gonna reassign him a new mentor.”

“Good call.”

“Who do you want on this job?” Cooper asked.

“Addison and Prescott, if he’s in town.” Hawk pushed out of the chair. “You want me to grab her?”

“Not yet,” Copper said. “First, you need to know who you’re going after. It’s Aziz Haqazzii, son of deceased terror leader, Abdel Haqazzii.”

Hawk’s pulse shot up, while the fury he kept in check jumped to the surface.

“So, you know,” Hawk murmured.

“I read your file, so yeah, I know. I just need to know if you can take out Haqazzii’s son.”

Hatred and revenge slithered up Hawk’s spine, curling itself around his already hardened heart. “With pleasure.”

“I’ve got to talk to Addison, then I’ll tell you both about the mission,” Cooper explained.

Years of seething rage were squeezing Hawk’s chest so tight, he couldn’t fucking breathe. “I’ll get her.”

He stepped into the hall and spotted Addison talking to Danielle. Seeing her sent that familiar zing of attraction through him. Tommy moseyed around the corner and stopped to chat with them. A growl shot out of him as he made his way toward them.

“Hey, Nicky,” Tommy said. “You doing okay, I mean, being sidelined and all?”

“I got reinstated,” Hawk replied.

His cousin’s mouth dropped open, then his face split into a smile. “That’s great. Congrats.”

“Cooper’s assigning you a new mentor. I’m not here enough to work with you.”

“Bummer,” Tommy said.

Hawk shifted his attention to Addison. “You’re up.”

She headed down the hall as Cooper stepped out of his office. They spoke quietly, then she called to Hawk, “Come join us.”

Hawk tossed his cousin and Danielle a nod before strolling down the hall. They entered Cooper’s office and he shut the door.

After settling at the conference table, Cooper said, “Addison said that anything I say to her, I can say in front of you.”

Hawk regarded her. “Alright.”

“It’s a helo mission,” Cooper continued, “so Hawk’s primary. He asked for you and Prescott.”

“I’m in,” Addison replied.

“Before you agree, you need to know that the mission is to take out terror leader Aziz Haqazzii.”

Addison sat upright. “Is he related to Abdel Haqazzii?”

Cooper nodded. “His son.”

“How do you know who he is?” Hawk asked her.

“Abdel Haqazzii was my target for over two years when I was with the CIA.” Though her tone remained steady, her jaw muscles flexed in her cheek and she was tapping her fingernails on the table. “I’d moved to the Middle East to be team lead for an operation that centered on finding him. I was at the Marine base camp the night DEVGRU took him out.”

Holy fuck.
