At eleven, Addison scurried by, glanced over at the bar, and did a double take. A zing of energy charged through him. She didn’t owe him an explanation, but how could he have her back if he didn’t know where the hell she was?

She vanished down the hall, returning a moment later.

“Hey,” she said joining them behind the bar. “Where’s Liliana?”

“Bolted,” Hawk said. “She had a medical emergency.”

Addison pulled off her mask. “Is she okay?”

“We didn’t get into it.” Then, he hitched a brow. “How’s your evening going?”

“I had a thing I had to do.”

“No shit,” he said, glaring at her.

Addison thanked the server who’d been filling in.

“I liked working behind the bar,” she said. “If you ever need a sub, let me know.”

“Absolutely,” Addison replied. “I’m announcing last call. Can you brighten the lights for me please?”

The server turned up the lights, leaving Hawk and Addison alone behind the bar.

“Last call,” Addison said before lowering the music.

After clearing out the rush of clubbers looking for their last drink, the next thirty minutes flew by. As the guests started leaving, Tommy moseyed back over.

“Hey, Addison.” Tommy parked himself on a stool.

“How’s it going?” she asked.

“What happened to climax girl?” Hawk asked.

“She wanted you,” Tommy replied.

Hawk could feel Addison’s gaze drilling into him, but he tossed his cousin a nod. “I wouldn’t sweat it.”

“Plenty of other women,” Tommy replied, his attention focused on Addison. “You wanna hang out and have a drink after the place clears out?”

“She can’t,” Hawk replied.

Addison’s eyebrows jutted into her forehead.

“You got plans?” Tommy asked her.

“She does,” Hawk replied.

“You got laryngitis?” Tommy asked her.

“Hawk’s right,” Addison replied as Hawk’s gaze met hers.

The constant tug was there. He couldn’t deny it, couldn’t ignore it. Despite being pissed at her, he couldn’t wait to get her alone.

She dragged her gaze away. “My answer hasn’t changed, Tommy.”

After Addison went to lock the front door, Hawk leaned forward. “Stop. Pestering. Her.”

Tommy sighed, then swigged his beer. “Have you ever met someone who just blows you away?”
