When he smiled, color flooded her cheeks. “Thanks, baby.”

Expecting to see Addison behind the bar, he spotted Liliana alone. He pulled up to the side of the bar where servers picked up their drink orders. “Yo, Liliana, you seen Addison?”

Liliana sauntered over. “She’s dancing with a total hottie.”

What the hell?He craned to see, but the crowd was too dense. As he pushed toward the dance floor, he passed a group of women.

“Hi, aren’t you the new owner?” asked one of them.

“I am,” he replied over the music. “Whatcha need?”

“You,” another answered. “I need you.”

“It’s unanimous,” said the third woman. “We each want a turn.”

Hawk slid his gaze from one to the other. He didn’t care that they were attractive. None of them were Addison.

“I sent you an Invitation to Escape,” said the fourth, “but you haven’t responded.” She struck a pose. “Maybe now you’ll reply.”

“Wish I could, but I’m all booked up.”

The song ended. He glanced around and caught sight of Addison, Tommy, and some woman on the dance floor.

Hairs on the back of his neck went up.No fucking way.

“Enjoy your evening, ladies.”

He took off toward Addison as a slow song started. As he moved into view, her gaze met his and he caught a flash of excitement in her eyes.

He walked over, directed his full attention on her. “Dance with me.”

Not asking.

After taking her hand, he winked at his cousin, and moved away. He had no idea if she was into threesomes, didn’t want to know. He wanted her for himself and he didnotshare.

When he’d reached the other end of the dance floor, he turned to face her. In that second, he had his answer. She reached up, rested her arms on his shoulders, and caressed the back of his neck with the tips of her fingernails, sending a thrill down his spine.

“What took you so long?” she murmured.

“I’m here now.”

He slid his arms around her, pulled her close, and stared into her eyes. Nowhere else he’d rather be. She was with him, and he was good.

When the song ended, she rose up and whispered, “I need to talk to you.” This time, she clasped his hand, took him into their office. He thought she was going to say something about her dancing with his cousin. He didn’t give a fuck about that. Leaning his ass against the back of the desk, he waited.

She stood close, but not close enough to pull her into his arms and hold her. That, he didn’t like.

“My friend, Ronald—I was supposed to have lunch with him at Ziti’s,” she began. “His car exploded and he was killed.” Tears pricked her eyes.

He definitely wasn’t expecting this.

“I’m sorry, baby. Are you in danger?”

“No, but I was told to lay low, just in case.”

“By whom?”

“The CIA and Cooper,” she murmured.
