She wasn’t talking about her finger.
He kissed her digit again, only this time, his gaze stayed locked on hers. Then, he ran the tip of his tongue over her skin. A coo floated out of her, hovering in the air between them. She hoped he hadn’t heard.
One more tender kiss to her injury before he placed her hand against his cheek. Heat burned its way up her arm. A groan threatened to escape, but she swallowed hard.
His expanding pupils, black as midnight, had blanketed his light eyes. Her breath hitched.
Then, his mouth found hers. Her eyes fluttered closed on a groan, which had him deepening the embrace. Her body roared to life, the intensity of his tongue on hers jump-starting her insides, her body yearning for his.
He nibbled her lip, then slid his tongue back inside her welcoming mouth. Rather than increase his speed, he took his time, teasing her tongue with his. His other hand slithered around her waist and he pulled her close. Unable to control the need coursing through her, she thrust her tongue hard against his. The kiss turned brutal. Biting, pawing, grinding bodies unable or unwilling to stop. The noises coming out of them were foreign to her ears.
Her gritty growl had him devouring her while she pressed herself flush against him. His long, thick hardness pushed against her abs.
His breathing had shifted. It was subtle, but she heard it, felt his warm breath coming faster on her cheeks.
She was spiraling, losing control, her body thrumming with lust. Then, reality smacked her hard and she ended the kiss. But she couldn’t break away. Her hand was no longer on his cheek. She’d buried it in his beautiful, thick head of hair. His palm was now glued to her ass.
“Ohmygod, what the hell was that?” she whispered between gasps.
She inhaled a deep breath, but it didn’t help. She was on fire, her body burning with unrelenting desire. That kiss—his kiss—had slayed her.
She didnotwant to separate from him. Being in his arms felt phenomenal. With little more effort, he could shatter her into a million pieces.
When he kissed her, he owned her. Fully and completely. The only thing that mattered was the sinfully beautiful man in her arms. She was melting from the intensity of their embrace. He was a ravenous lion, and she… his willing prey.
Normally in total control, her heart was pounding away in her chest. Her pulse hadn’t risen above eighty during the entire ALPHA retreat. Right now, it was hammering away like a hummingbird.
“Just a kiss.” His gravelly voice shot straight to the wet space between her legs.
Not ‘just a kiss’.He kissed me because he knows.
His cousin had blabbed. That idiot couldn’t stay quiet and keep their hookups to himself.
That wasnotHawk’s business, but he was making it his by jumping into the mix with his machismo crap and alpha tendencies. Why else would he kiss her?
Frustration trumped lust. She wasn’t going to discuss Tommy with him and she didn’t care that he knew. Exhaling a harrumph, she glared at him. Though she couldn’t deny he was a fantastic kisser, she wasn’t going to throw away an amazing friendship because he was jealous over nothing. His imagination had probably gone off the rails about something she hadn’t even thought twice about.
This is why I’m not in a relationship.
She pushed away from him, steeled her spine, and forced herself to get it together. “Let’s finish collecting the eggs.”
As he held her gaze, a growl shot out of him.
Breaking their connection, she eyed Henrietta with determination. After a little coaxing, the hen moved away and Addison transferred her eggs to the basket.
Once all the eggs had been collected, she lined up cartons and started filling them. She could have been ambivalent about their kiss, but she wasn’t. She could have been curious, too.
Instead, she was seething.
Who the hell does he think he is? We have the best relationship. Why screw it up by kissing me?
After filling the first egg carton, movement caught her eye. Hawk had opened the henhouse door and was leaning against the doorframe smoking.
“Put that out and help me,” she hissed.
With the lit cigarette dangling from his luscious lower lip, he sauntered over. The tension rolling off him only further pissed her her. In all the time they’d been friends, they’d never had any problems. Not a single one.
One kiss later, and they weren’t even speaking to each other.
