Hawk regarded him. “How’d you know about that?”
“I hear things.” Tommy paused. “Poor Barry gets killed on one ofyourmissions and you get a slap on the wrist. Big whoop. And let’s not forget that you’re Granddad’s number one. He doesn’t even try to hide it. I’m a decorated police officer who goes undercover to shut down a drug-trafficking ring, but Granddad barely says a word to me. No one even fucking knows you’re in ALPHA!”
Where the hell is this coming from?
“And let’s not forget the best part. I meet a woman. She’s gorgeous, totally chill, and loves to let loose at cosplay parties. While I’m in this shithole motel in Philly dealing with a bunch of low-life drug dealers, I think about her all the time. She’s what gets me though that. When I get back, I run into her. Imagine how fucking thrilled I was. The woman of my dreams in the flesh. Then, I find out she’s your buddy. Who has a buddy like that? Thanks to you, she’s not interested in me.”
“Hey, I’m sorry,” Hawk said. “But Addison wasn’t interested in you. That had nothing to do with me.”
Tommy released a low growl. “Me, zero. You, every-fucking-thing.”
Pausing, Hawk eyed his cousin. “You been drinking?” He rubbed his arms to warm his skin.
“I had some beers.”
“C’mon, let’s go talk.” Hawk walked toward the freezer door.
Jolts of electricity pounded through him. He hit the floor, the searing pain incapacitating him.
Tommy pulled Hawk’s phone from his pocket, then yanked out the Taser’s barbed probes. At the door he turned back. “I killed Barry, hoping they’d kick your ass outta ALPHA. I leaked the videos from your company so your clients would bail and your company would fail. No matter what I did, you’re fucking untouchable. This time, I’m gonna win, Nicky. I’m gonna sell this fucking farmandget the girl.”
Tommy grabbed the board and rushed out, slamming the door behind him.
Hawk lay on the floor, unable to move. If he didn’t get out, he’d freeze to death in a matter of minutes.

Addison smiled down at the tiny infant in her arms. “He’s so beautiful. I can’t stop staring at him.” She peered over at Liv and Jericho. Liv was resting in bed while Jericho sat beside her beaming.
“What’s his name?” Addison asked.
Liv and Jericho exchanged loving glances. “Liam Bryan Savage,” Liv replied.
“Hello, Liam,” Addison whispered. “I’m your godmother and I’m going to protect you and teach you and have so much fun with you.”
Tears pricked her eyes.
She stood and placed Liam in Liv’s waiting arms. Then, Addison pulled out her phone. “Let’s get the first family photo.”
Jericho leaned close, and Addison snapped a few, then texted them to Liv and Jericho. “I’m not going to tell Hawk. He’ll be surprised when he gets here.”
“Shouldn’t he be back by now?” Jericho asked.
Addison shot Hawk a text. “Are you on your way?”
If he was driving, his phone might have blocked the text, so she called him, but it rolled to voicemail.
“Hmm, that’s weird,” she said.
“What?” Liv asked, her gaze still cemented on her newborn.
“The call went right to voicemail,” Addison said. “Hawk never turns his phone off.”
“Do you think he’s outta juice?” Jericho asked.
“Doubtful.” Addison didn’t like that he was at the farm by himself. He could have fallen off the roof.
“Jericho, you’re not leaving anytime soon, are you?” she asked.
