TOMMY, TOMMY EVERYWHERE
Hawk lay awake for a long time. He hadn’t brought a woman into his bed in forever. Taking this next step with Addison was a confirmation of his feelings. As he listened to her gentle breathing, he had no clue how he’d get over this hurdle. He’d walled off his heart for so long, feeling this way felt alien.
But… it also made him feel alive.
He never imagined he’d have to protect her. She was so independent, such a badass. But, here they were working together to ensure she stayed alive. Going forward, she was his priority.
She rolled toward him, mumbled something. Then, she lay her head on his chest, her arm across his body, and snuggled flush up against him. He was trapped by a beautiful woman in his own bed and he wasn’t gonna touch her.
How fucked up is this?
His throbbing boner was starting to irritate him, but it would stand down. Not his first choice, but he needed to take things slowly. Very slowly. The only time she’d had an emotional outburst was when he invited her home to role play.
He inhaled her fragrant scent and held her close. Was this really happening? And was he capable of loving again?
THE EARLY MORNING light brightened his bedroom. He glanced over. No Addison. Pushing out of bed, he went in search of his houseguest and found her sitting in the lotus position on his balcony in an auburn wig and oversized sunglasses.
She looked so peaceful.
Rather than interrupt, he got dressed, then headed to the kitchen to make coffee. A few minutes later, she walked in.
“Good morning.” Her sweet smile buoyed his spirits. “I slept sooooo good. You?”
“It was good. Different.”
“Yeah, for me, too.”
She stayed on the other side of his large marble counter. He wanted to kiss her good morning and tell her how adorable she looked. Instead, he said, “Do you meditate every day?”
“Most.” She walked around the counter and peered up at him. “Do you want to do it with me tomorrow?”
He hitched a brow. “I’ll do it with you.”
Somehow, her straightforward question sounded both dirty and enticing.
Her phone rang. “It’s Cooper.” She answered, put the call on speaker. “Good morning.”
“How’s everyone doing?”
“We’re okay.”
“Can you swing by HQ this morning?” Cooper asked.
Addison looked at him.
So damn pretty. He’d never seen her sleepy face before. There was something vulnerable about seeing someone just after they’d awakened.
“What’s going on?” Hawk asked, his gaze still cemented on hers.
“I need to talk to you guys,” Cooper replied.
“Yeah, we kinda figured that part out,” Hawk ground out. “I’ve got a problem at work, so we’re headed over there.”
“It’s important,” Cooper said. “After we talk, I’ll make sure Addison gets to your office.”
“Call me,” Hawk replied. “I’ll come get her.”
After ending the call, she sidled close. “You’re taking your bodyguard job very seriously.”
