BANG! BANG!

A bullet whizzed by Hawk’s shoulder, another hit him in the chest, the armor taking the hit. Both he and Addison opened fire.

POP! POP! POP! POP!

He flipped off the bedroom light, they lowered their goggles, and cleared the closet. As they strode to the room at the end of the hall, the door opened. They backed against the wall, waiting.

Nothing.

Despite the surrounding darkness, they couldn’t step in. They’d get sprayed with gunfire or they’d get overpowered. There could be multiple thugs waiting to ambush them.

Then, Addison touched him. Hand signals for them to return to the room they’d just vacated. She vanished into the room. He followed.

“I think this might be a shared bathroom,” she whispered. “I’ll surprise them from here, then you enter from the hallway.

He left, waited outside the bedroom. He could hear whispers, but couldn’t tell how many were in there.

“On three,” she murmured. “One, two—”

He burst in as she charged from the bathroom. There were three men. None of them had on night goggles. Didn’t matter, they raised their guns and started firing.

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

POP! POP! POP! POP!

POP! POP! POP! POP!

All three dropped. He and Addison shot them in the chest and in the head. It was a fucking bloodbath.

“You okay?” he murmured.

“Kevlar hit,” she whispered.

“Where?”

“Dead center.”

A first for her.

“Can you walk?”

“Yeah. I’m more shaken than injured.”

Her ribs were gonna be sore. She’d definitely be black and blue.

“Multiple down,” Stryker whispered through the comm.

As Hawk opened the closet door, someone hiding in the corner caught his eye. He was one of the fugitives. The criminal raised his gun.

BANG!

The guy shot him in the chest.

Hawk opened fire.POP! POP! POP!Two in the head, one in the chest.

Addison opened fire on the second man hehadn’tseen, crouching behind clothes on the other side of the closet.
