"We can't leave him alone," Grey said softly, his voice filled with worry.

I nodded in agreement, my own concern for Cae weighing heavily on my mind. The thought of him facing the world alone in his current state was unbearable.

"We need to create a safe space for him here," I suggested, my voice barely above a whisper. "A place where he can heal and find the strength to face each day."

Ash chimed in, his voice filled with determination. "We'll take turns staying by his side, making sure he knows he's not alone. We'll be his rock until he can stand on his own again."

Ash's words struck a chord with us, and we nodded in agreement, united in our commitment to support Cae through this difficult time. We understood that the healing process would be slow, and Cae needed time and space to navigate his grief.

Cae's pain was something we couldn't fix or take away, but we could offer him our unwavering presence and love. We had seen firsthand how deeply Amelia had touched his life, just as she had touched ours. From the moment she walked into our lives, she had found a place in our hearts, becoming an irreplaceable part of who we were together.

It became clear to us now, more than ever, just how much her sudden absence had impacted us.

Sitting in the living room, we began discussing the practicalities of letting the faculty know about Cae's condition. We recognized the importance of informing them that he would be taking time off due to illness while respecting his privacy and the sensitivity of the situation.

Grey took the lead, his voice steady but filled with concern. "I'll draft an email to send to the faculty, explaining that Cae is dealing with a personal health issue and needs some time off to rest and recover. We won't go into details, but we can assure them that he has our full support, and we'll keep them updated on his progress."

I nodded in agreement, appreciating Grey's thoughtful approach. "That sounds like a good plan. We can let them know that we'll provide any necessary documentation and ensure that Cae's academic responsibilities are taken care of during his absence. We want them to understand the gravity of the situation without prying into the specifics."

Ash added, "We should also mention that we'll be supporting Cae closely during this time and that we're committed to helping him through his recovery. It's important for the faculty to see that Cae has a strong support system behind him."

With our plan in place, Grey started working on drafting the email while Ash and I gathered the necessary contact information for the faculty members who needed to be informed. We wanted to ensure that Cae's absence would be handled with compassion and understanding.

We knew that by informing the faculty and creating a supportive environment at home, we were giving Cae the best possible chance to heal and regain his strength.

Once the email was sent, Ash and I prepared ourselves to go to the university to teach our own lectures. It was a difficult decision to leave Cae behind in his fragile state, but we knew we had responsibilities to fulfill, and Grey would stay home to provide support.

As we walked through the university corridors, the weight of our grief still clung to us. The halls felt empty and lifeless without Amelia. It was a stark reminder of the void she had left behind.

Entering the lecture room, I couldn't help but feel a sense of emptiness. Amelia's absence was palpable, her usual vibrant presence replaced by an echoing void.

Standing at the front, preparing to deliver the lecture, my heart felt heavy. It was a struggle to push aside thoughts of Amelia, to compartmentalize my emotions and focus on the task at hand. But I knew that continuing with our responsibilities was crucial, not just for ourselves but for Cae as well.

Taking a deep breath, I began the lecture, my voice steady but my thoughts wandering. Teaching that day felt like going through the motions. I couldn't help but glance at the empty seat where Amelia usually sat, her absence a constant reminder of the void that had been left behind. The familiar dynamics of our shared journey were disrupted, and it pained me to think of the impact it had on our family.

My heart was heavy, and my mind was preoccupied with thoughts of both Amelia and Cae. I did my best to maintain composure and deliver the material, but it was evident that my emotions were affecting me.

Students, unaware of the situation, looked at me with curiosity and concern. They could sense that something was amiss.

During the breaks between classes, Ash and I retreated to a quiet corner of the campus, leaning on each other for support. We shared our worries and fears, knowing that the road ahead would be long and uncertain.

As we returned home in the evening, exhaustion weighed us down. Grey updated us on Cae's condition, assuring us that he had been there for him, providing comfort and listening to his thoughts. Cae's recovery would take time, but we were determined to be there for him every step of the way.

Couldapersonlivewithout their heart?

Because, it felt like my heart had been ripped out, still beating, still breaking. Our love, our connection, had become the very essence of who I was. But now, it was gone, leaving behind an emptiness that seemed impossible to fill.

The pain was real, a throbbing ache that consumed me entirely. The hours dragged on, and darkness settled in, mirroring the darkness within my shattered heart. I sought refuge under the covers of my bed, but even there, the pain in my chest was unbearable. I watched Amelia, my Star, walk away, and a profound sense of loss and despair engulfed me.

All I wanted was for her to reconsider, to come back to me, and find a way for us to fight for our love against all odds. But deep down, I understood that her decision came from a place of love and selflessness. She didn't want us to suffer the consequences of being together, no matter how much we yearned to defy them.

Grey held me tightly, his embrace both comforting and heartbreaking. He shared in my anguish, his heart breaking just like mine. He knew the gravity of the situation, and although it tore him apart, he respected Amelia's choice.

Tears streamed down my face without restraint, my soul aching with unbearable sorrow. The overwhelming urge to chase after her, to beg her to stay, consumed me. But I knew deep down that doing so would only cause her more pain. I couldn't bear to see her suffer any longer.

Lying there, lost in my anguish, time seemed to stand still. The weight of Amelia's absence bore down on me, and the future stretched out before me, bleak and uncertain. How could we possibly move forward without her, without the radiant light she had brought into our lives?

Breaking the silence, Grey's voice broke through, filled with compassion and understanding. "We need to give her space," he whispered, his voice trembling. "It's what she wants, what she believes is best for us. We have to respect that, even though it hurts."
