Avery:OMG. Simmer down.

At 1:04— only four minutes late— I pulled the Jeep into a parking spot just off Broadway. I walked the short distance to Secrets, where I was supposed to be meeting Emma. She’d said this was THE place for fetish wear, and from the outfits I’d seen her wear at the club, she knew what she was talking about. I walked in the door to find lingerie prominently displayed. Emma was already sifting through the racks.

“Hey Avery! What do you think of this one?” Emma held up a dark blue lingerie set.

“Ooh. Gorgeous. It brings out your blue eyes.” I nodded as I joined Emma at the display. I began to flip through the different options.

“How about this? I love you in pink.” Emma held up a short babydoll in blush pink.

“Love it! That’ssomy style, but...I think maybe something more…racy, maybe. Like this?“ I held up a crimson corset. “It’s different than what I usually wear, but I feel like Brax would like it. I mean, not that I care what he thinks.”

I didn’t care what he thought. I didn’t. Right? Right. I’d scened with him twice, if you counted him punishing me for stupid stuff. But that orgasm he’d given me with just his hands…my body started to heat as I thought about it. Was it too soon to be into him like this? Was he even into me? Did I want him to be?

Emma giggled. “Oh, girl, you’ve got it bad. I think your style is perfect for Brax.” She continued to sift through items while a smile played at her lips.

I considered. “I think I’ll get both. Maybe I’ll have a chance to wear them both at some point.” I checked the price tags before I slung both outfits over my forearm and continued browsing. Amazingly enough, I’d be able to afford both. I flicked past a few more outfits on the rack and looked up at Emma. “What’s your plan for tonight?”

“Oh, you never know. I just show up and hope for the best.” Emma held up another babydoll dress, this time in pale blue. “How about this?”

“Another babydoll? I feel like Brax already sees me as just sweet and innocent. Naive, even. Maybe I should wear something to prove him wrong.” I needed to stop thinking about what Brax would like. It wasn’t like I was dressing for him. I wasn’t.

Emma snorted. “Of course he thinks you’re sweet and innocent. Brax is a Daddy Dom. They love that stuff.”

I stared at Emma. “A Daddy Dom?”

“Yeah. Don’t tell me you’ve never heard of that. They like to take care of their subs, help them out, spank them when they’re out of line.”

I nodded slowly while my mind went a million miles an hour. “I’ve...heard of them.” I tried to keep a neutral expression on my face, but I was pretty sure I was failing miserably.

Emma grabbed my hand. “Oh my god. That’s exactly what you want, isn’t it? This is too perfect!” She bounced away to look at the vibrators, still chattering about true love, fate, and meant-to-be.

I followed her slowly. I wasn’t sure I believed in fate. Especially not at a sex toy shop.

The day went by quickly as we moved from store to store. Emma loved to talk and gossip, so I took advantage of it to collect intel on Brax. According to Emma, he was 35, and had been a club member for about 2 years, but rarely played with the same sub twice. Butterflies rose in my stomach at that last part. He’d played with me twice.

“And I don’t think he’s ever done anything outside of the club with any of the subs!” Emma sounded gleeful.

“Well, to be fair, he showed up at my work without knowing I’d be there. That’s not exactly dating.”

“Well, driving you home, then driving you back to get your car definitely counts!” Emma sounded confident. “I’ll bet he wants to play with you tonight.”

I mentally crossed my fingers. I wanted to play with him, but… “Maybe. I don’t know if I should get my hopes up.”

I climbed out of my Jeep just after 9pm and walked into Blackstone. As I pulled the door open, I looked back, scanning the parking lot for Brax’s truck. Not here yet. I walked through the door, letting it swing shut behind me. Was it really a few weeks since I’d first stood here, paralyzed with fear at the thought of going in?

Cody was sitting at the front desk. He smiled at me as I walked in. “Hey, Avery. Good to see you again. Brax called a little bit ago. He got called in to work, so can’t be here for a while, but he let me know you’re good to go on his membership.”

“Okay. Thanks, Cody.” I walked past him into the main club, dropping off my purse and shoes in a locker on the way in. It seemed busier already in the main play area than the other nights I’d been here. There were at least 10 couples engaged in scenes in the main area, each with a small audience. I scanned the bar area and couches, but didn’t see any familiar faces.

I suddenly felt less confident and more out of place. Did I even belong here? I looked at the activity in the main play area. All strangers. I took a step back. Maybe this wasn’t the place for me tonight. Or at all.

I turned back toward the lockers. I could go home, study, maybe even have time to watch an old episode of Friends. I’d try for another night. Maybe. I took a step toward the exit when a hand cupped my elbow.

“Hi there, little one. Come on in. Brax asked me to look out for you, since he’s stuck at work.” Drew’s hand gently held me in place. He stood between me and the lockers, blocking my path. “I know some of the other subbies aren’t here yet, either. I bet it feels scary to not know anyone, huh?”

I stared up at him wordlessly while he effortlessly pivoted me back toward the club. How did Doms do that? Read your emotions like they were written out in bold lettering across your forehead?

“Let’s go hang out in the bar area. I have a bunch of people for you to meet. We take care of each other here.”
