The media, of course, had wanted everything. She and Mason managed to get Edmund and his superiors to deal with the frenzy.

Because they had a few days.

In that time, Lucretia Mayberry was given the necessary permits to begin a historical search, along with an archeological team, on the tunnels beneath the streets that Nathaniel Bradenton had created when he’d owned the whole lot of properties—a place to dispose of those who had disappeared during his particular reign of terror.

Sean no longer needed to guard Stacey, but they quickly learned that he wasn’t leaving her side, anyway.

The attraction that had begun was growing.

And who knew where it would lead?

François and Jeanne hopped the Chunnel for a few days at home.

Mason and Della went on the London Eye, or the Millennium Wheel, where he teased her, wondering how such a tough agent could get nervous at heights.

The view was spectacular.

They visited the original Madame Tussauds.

They acted like tourists.

They left what had, indeed, once been called the “Prince Edward” house and spent their few nights in a beautiful hotel right by Buckingham Palace.

And when they finished being tourists, they came back to their room and played some more.

Entering their room on their last night, Mason set his arms around Della’s waist and whispered from behind, “Take it off, take it off!”

“Oh!” she teased, spinning around in his arms. “I can do that!”

She grinned and did a sensuous body twist—and slid her Glock from the holster at the small of her back.

They might have been tourists, but they were still Blackbird.

He grinned at her.

“Now you!” she teased.

“Well, I don’t do it quite so well...”

“Anyone can learn.”

His Glock went down on the bedside table.

He cleared his throat.

“I meant more than that.”

“Oh!”

Once again, she grinned, twisted and writhed, and the Baby Browning came out from her ankle.

“Nice, but... I guess I’m just going to have to show you!

She laughed, flying into his arms.

He showed her every move he could think of, and those that grew from within. There would be another case soon. There would be other nights, but this one...
