My sister lifted her brow. "Aren't you her handler?"
"Right. So what am I doing in a closet full of dresses?"
My sister rolled her eyes. "You do know how this works, don't you? After all, you were trained, mate."
I was surrounded by the most organized wardrobe on the planet. I’d never noticed that the women’s wardrobe was ten times the size of the men’s. There was soft lighting and mirrors everywhere.
In the center console there were drawers and drawers of jewelry. Much of it already laid out.
"Yes, but this is a wardrobe."
"This is where Tabatha will get her outfits for the mission. You are going to help her pick what she wears, what's best to entice Jennings. Stuff like that. Please tell me this is making sense to you."
I frowned. I'd never had to do this before.
"Why are you her handler anyway?” Saff asked. “That’s not an ordinary roll for you."
"Not my call."
That was a lie. It was a hundred percent my call. Gennifer had wanted someone from Oversight on her, which was bullshit.
Tabatha was mine.
I mean, she was on my team, so I would make sure she was covered. I just didn't know a fashion show was part of the gig.
Tabatha came out of one of the changing rooms, and my breath caught. The dress she wore was an interesting take on a suit. The thing was skintight. I could see every single curve, specifically, the peach of her arse.
And fuck me, I wanted to bite it.
Tabs turned and asked, “Do you think it makes my arse look big?”
What her butt looked like was something that would fit my palms perfectly.
Nope. Stop it. Focus.
"No, but it’s green. We don't want to give off the wrong vibe."
Tabs jumped and whirled around, seeing me in the corner. "What the fuck? What the hell are you doing here?"
"I'm your handler. Apparently, I'm supposed to approve all the outfits."
She glowered at Saff. "Yes, he's my handler, but come on, he's not the fashion guy."
I lifted my brow. "What are you trying to say?"
"I'm saying this needs a woman's touch, not yours."
"I'm a man. I know what Jennings is going to respond to."
Tabatha frowned. "Oh, yeah? What color should I wear then?"
"Even though you have red hair, burgundy would be beautiful. Something light pink would go great on your skin, and it wouldn't clash. Obviously, anything in neutrals or jewel tones would complement your skin tone as well.”
The words were out of my mouth so easily, as if I'd spent eons studying this stuff. But I guessed I just knew what she'd look like when she wore those things.
She studied me closely. "Well, well, well. Guess who's got an interest in fashion?"
"Oh, for fuck's sake. Can I go now?"
