My butterfly. I was so very screwed.

I forced myself to take a deep breath.

You're losing it after just one kiss, Gabriel. Okay fine, two kisses.

I leaned forward and rubbed my eyes with the heels of my hands. I could bloody do this. I had to. I certainly wasn't going near her again. It couldn't happen again. Wouldn't happen. I had bloody self-control. I was known for it.

Besides, that shit wasn't real. It was for a mission anyway.

Oh, sure. Keep telling yourself that, mate. What about the kiss in your office?

The moment I closed my eyes, I could practically feel Tabatha's lips sliding over mine. The long moan she made at the back of her throat. The little whimper that drove me to the brink.

When I backed her up against the wall and delved my tongue into that sweet sinful mouth, the rise of adrenaline through my blood and up my spine made me shake. The way she tilted her hips ever so slightly, rocking along the length of my cock, had me aching for more.

For two glorious minutes, I hadn’t given a fuck about anything other than making her scream and come all over my dick. My brain had offered several versions of how this could happen. Bent over the desk. Spread out on the faux cowhide rug on the floor. Reverse cowgirl in this very office chair.

Every single scenario ended with me fucking her raw and coming inside her with my name on her tongue.

My head snapped up, and I cursed under my breath. I needed to erase Tabatha from my memory, post haste. I couldn't have her. She wasn't mine. Hell, I didn't even like her most days. She was mouthy, difficult to work with…

And fucking sexy as hell.

There was no way I would ever be able to erase the memory of how her body felt against mine.

You need to. Because if Oversight is coming for her, she needs you to protect her.

So I forced all thoughts of her from my mind and did the one thing I knew Saff would tell me not to do.

Three hours later I still didn’t know what game Gennifer was playing.

What trap was she laying?

I kept my agents focused. They might not always love me, but they knew that I would cover for them and protect them. She could lie all she wanted, but I knew Gennifer did not have my team’s best interest at heart. She was an opportunist.

My previous assessment was correct. Saff and Lock were mostly clear, so I could at least close out their files. The others would need some more examination.

Tabatha had chinks in her armor. Namely her brother and sister. They could be exploited to make her look bad.

But despite my exhaustion and my mind whirring with all the possibilities, I'd very deliberately made a trip this morning. A little over a year ago, a prisoner had escaped Rogues’ custody. At the time we'd attributed it to a guard.

But assuming that Gennifer was using the usual tactics of half-truths to sell a story, then we very well might have a mole. And if I was going to find out at least where to start looking, I needed to start out by interviewing the one person who would know.

Rogues was at risk, and Tabatha was in danger. To protect them, I would seek help from the devil himself.

Antonio Igno was the man who’d had my parents killed. Resisting the urge to kill him took a level of control I wasn’t sure I had, but I shoved the well of emotions away. I couldn’t do my job if I let it out.

He'd been at our black site for two months refusing to say a word.

Now I needed him to talk to me.

As far as I was concerned, he could rot. But I would do whatever was necessary to make him talk. He owed me. How I had managed not to kill him over the last couple of months was a testament to my control. But fuck, I had been tempted.

I'd had all manner of fantasies about dismissing the guards and opening the geezer's cell. The sheer satisfaction of watching the fight leave his eyes would be so sweet.

Except you're with the good guys.

Was I? The devil on my shoulder tried to rationalize that I would be doing the world a favor. One less terrorist piece of shit was a good thing. Not to mention it would be so easy.
