"Whatever you need to tell yourself."

"She gave me all the information I needed on her sister. God, I find it so interesting that she calls you her sister. It's like she doesn’t even know you're not really related to them."

"We're family. That's all that matters."

"Of course, bullshit, bullshit, and more bullshit."

"So you're going to tell me that it boiled down to jealousy?"

"Rogues took everything from my father. And I had to fight twice as hard to get it back. If I'd been a man, I would have had it easily. I wanted Rogues to pay."

"You hated your father."

"I did. But if Rogues hadn't ousted him, I would have had an opportunity at a seat. They took that opportunity away from me."

"You're punishing an organization. What is wrong with you? Where is my sister?"

She laughed. "I'll never tell."

I stalked toward her, my curls blowing in the breeze. "I will kill you."

"Then you’ll never know."

I released one of my knives into her thigh without a blink.

From behind me, Gabe called out, "That's enough, Tabatha."

"It's not enough. She's holding Kira."

"I know. She won't tell you."

Gennifer laughed. "Why don't you listen to your boyfriend? I would rather die than tell you. And when the Syndicate finds out I've been caught, they will likely kill me, which means I'm fine with you never knowing."

"You will tell me." I stalked toward her, and she backed up, dangerously close to the edge. I threw another knife. Excellent position, midthigh, right below the other one.

From behind me, Gabe called out. "Tabatha, no more knives. She can't hurt you anymore."

"She's holding my sister, and she needs to tell me where the hell she is."

"That's what I'm trying to tell you, love. We have her phone, and we have a lead. You don't have to do this."

Gennifer's eyes skidded from mine to his, and she shook her head. "No, you don't know anything."

"Oh, but we do. Thanks to your friend, Jennings Tate, we've been able to access all your files."

"You have not."

"We have. He was immensely helpful. Anything to get his sentence lowered. You've made a lot of enemies, and you’d just better hope they don't have access to where you're going."

She lifted her head. "You’re bluffing. You don't know where she is."

He almost whispered as he approached slowly. "Tabs, we've got her. We'll go back to Rogues and regroup, then we’ll get Kira back, okay?"

I wanted to kill her. I wanted to charge her and shove her right off the edge of the cliff.

But the look Gabe gave me said that I had to trust him.

So I eased back, sheathing the rest of my knives. "You’re not worth a shitty conscience anyway. And you're going to have a great time locked up."
