"Fuck. Can't we just put him in a deep dark hole?"

"We could, but it's better if we can take Gennifer down with him."

"Looks like I'm going to have to go and have a conversation with the arsehole."

From the doorway, someone said, "Looks like I'm going with you."

Tabatha had changed into her normal gear. Leggings, tank top, and a black leather jacket. She looked like a wet dream and made me salivate.

"Yeah, but this time, you don't go alone. I'll be right with you the whole damn way."

She gave me a wan smile. "You've already been there. But you know what? I almost can't wait to ruin his day."

Tabatha

A part of me worried that I would feel some kind of fear heading back to the estate to see Jennings again, but I felt nothing. Well, okay, I was having a flicker of glee at the idea of watching his face. When we approached the estate, we parked and Gabe studied me. "Are you all right?"

"I'm fine. This is actually going to be fun."

He gave me a sharp nod as if seeing through my bravado. I wasn’t feeling particularly brave. The truth was, I had frozen in the limo, even if just for a second. Like an out-of-body experience. I was nearly as deadly as Saff when it came to hand-to-hand. But in that moment, I’d hesitated. I knew it. And that had nearly gotten me killed. This time though, I had my trusty big stick with me.

Are you going to use the big stick later?

I hid a smirk as I took hold of the big brass knocker. Francis met us. "Miss Bracknell, I didn't see you on the list to expect today."

"Don't worry, he'll see me."

The butler scampered off and we followed, all the while he kept casting glances behind us. Gabe knew what he was doing. He had donned a suit today instead of his usual preference for tech gear. And God, he looked good. Broad-shouldered, European cut, completely framing his swimmer's body. He’d done it as a reminder to Tate that he was cut from the same monied crop.

We found Jennings in the sunroom, and he stood when he saw us. He scowled at Gabe. "What the hell is this?"

His butler spoke up. "Miss Bracknell is here, sir. Shall I call security?"

I grinned at that. "Oh yes, by all means. I would feel infinitely better if you did."

Tate frowned and stood. "Security is not necessary. Miss Bracknell and her guest won't be staying."

"Oh, you're right about that. I cannot wait to get out of here. Unfortunately, we need to talk. Have a seat, will you?"

He glared at me. "If you’ll just have a look at your nondisclosure agreement, you will find that events the other night are covered in the contract. If you check your bank account, you’ll find funds have been transferred, and you, my love, are expected to go away. There will be no more money."

"Oh, you think I need money? Also, you think fifty thousand pounds is enough hush money? You are sloppy. And cheap. Which makes me think that you're sloppy a lot. How many witnesses have you left littered across the globe?"

He scowled at me, his gaze shifting nervously toward Gabe. "What, you brought a bodyguard today? You recognize my security team can take him out in seconds from a distance, right?"

"Oh yes, carotid, from a distance. Or are you going to attempt to fight someone weaker than yourself again?"

He frowned at that. "What the fuck are you doing here?"

"Well, it's a funny story, actually. I personally hoped to never see you again. But Gabe here insisted that I have to close the loop. And unfortunately for me, you'll be seeing a lot more of me."

"Are you mad? We're done. Leave on your own, or I will have security escort you off the property."

I grinned. "Well, they're welcome to try. You see, Gabe here is an incredibly good attack dog. I mean, he's a pain in the ass. But if you touch his people, he gets very upset."

Jennings’s frown deepened. "What people?"

"Me. I'm his person." Just saying it gave me a flush of happiness.
