Caio seated himself between her legs and entwined his fingers with hers, holding her hands above her head. He thrust deep into her body and she arched against him. She’d never felt so full, so impaled... Their eyes met and Caio started to move, never taking his eyes off hers.
Words trembled on her lips.
Caio pressed a kiss to her mouth and said huskily, ‘I know, love. Me too. Forever.’
Pleasure broke Ana into a million pieces, with Caio following just seconds later. He tucked her into his body and she pressed a kiss to his shoulder. She whispered an echo of love against his skin. ‘Forever.’
EPILOGUE
Five years later
‘ANADIAZSALAZAR.’
Everyone clapped as Ana got up from her seat and walked to the podium in her black gown and cap, the golden tassel swinging beside her beaming face. Her hair was glossy and longer now, falling below her shoulders in loose waves.
She wore a cream floaty wrap dress underneath the gown, and high heels. The only jewellery she wore was a pair of diamond drop earrings, her wedding ring and engagement ring. Someone indiscreet behind Caio noted waspily that for a billionaire’s wife she wasn’t exactly blingy, but she was very pretty.
Caio turned around to the gossipers, smiled benevolently, and said, ‘She’s the most beautiful woman in the world. She doesn’t need adornment.’
The two women nearly fell off their chairs.
Caio turned back to see Ana shaking the hand of the president of the university and accepting her first class honours degree. She smiled for the cameras. And then the moment Caio had hoped they would avoid happened, when their three-year-old daughter Luna woke up abruptly and spotted Ana on the stage.
‘Look! Mama!’
Ana saw them and Caio smiled at her minute eye-roll. His heart expanded with love and pride as she re-joined her fellow classmates and they waited for the rest of the ceremony to finish.
After Ana had said emotional goodbyes to friends and professors, and had handed back her ceremonial gown and cap, she went looking for Caio and Luna. He’d taken their daughter outside in case she was too noisy.
She spotted them before they saw her. They were down by the river which ran along the bottom of a beautiful landscaped lawn. The air was laden with the scent of flowers and cut grass. Students posed with families and smiled. Other students, not graduating, sat on the grass and ate lunch, or discussed lectures.
Ana’s eyes went back to Caio and Luna. Two dark heads together as he held her safely while she squealed and pointed at the ducks. Ana’s hand went to her chest for a minute, to try and contain her emotion as the full impact of the scene she was looking at sank in.
Caio had done this. Given her a chance to pursue her dream. To give her wings. But to keep her rooted at the same time—rooted in his unconditional love and security.
This was what she’d always dreamt of, and it was so much more than she’d ever believed might be possible. And there was more. She put a hand to her belly and the growing bump under her dress. She was almost five months pregnant with their second child. The light flutters of the last couple of weeks were getting stronger daily.
As if sensing her regard, Caio turned his head and found her unerringly. As he always did. He stood up, taking Luna into his arms, and Ana walked down towards them and straight into his arms.Home.
He drew her in for a kiss, and Ana relished his scent and the steely strength of his body. She could feel the inevitable spark of desire, still there, as strong as ever.
Reading her mind, Caio smirked at her. ‘Wait till I get you home, Mrs Salazar.’
She winked at him. ‘Promises, promises...’
Luna launched herself at Ana, wrapping her small arms around her neck, and Ana buried her face in Luna’s neck, making her laugh when she nuzzled her. Their daughter had her father’s dark golden eyes and dark hair, and it took all their collective wits to keep up with her.
Caio said softly, ‘I’m so proud of you.’
Ana’s vision blurred a little. ‘I’m proud of me too.’
Her husband took her hand and kissed it. ‘You should be—you’ve worked hard.’
Caio took Luna back into his arms and held Ana’s hand as he led her through the leafy and idyllic grounds of the university to the waiting car that would take them back to the townhouse he’d bought in Mayfair when he’d suggested moving to London, so that Ana could pursue her dream of studying and getting a degree in an English university.
For the last four years Caio had based his head office in London and had commuted to far flung places only when absolutely necessary. And only when Ana’s schedule had allowed her to travel with him.
They hadn’t planned on Ana getting pregnant so soon, but inevitably their insane chemistry had led to increasingly lax efforts to protect her against pregnancy—et voilà,Luna.
