Instead, what comes out is, “No more flip phone?”
He shakes his head with a grin. “Bad for business.”
I glance down at his pocket, where his phone continues to ding. I know it’s a phone call. Oliver grimaces.
“She doesn’t deserve your silence,” I tell him before meeting his gaze again. “Just talk to her and we’ll figure it out.”
He tucks a piece of hair behind my ear and kisses my forehead—my cheek—my lips. “I know what I want, Willow. And I need you to know it too.”
“I want you,” I tell him gently. “Just you.”
“You’ve always had me.”
I smile softly. “I know.”
He gives me a quick peck on the tip of my nose. “What are you going to do today?”
I shrug. “I’ll probably call your mom at some point and apologize for the damage and wait for my mom at the house.”
Oliver shoves his hands into his pockets. “I already spoke to my mother, so that’s taken care of.”
I scrunch my face. “Is she upset?”
“Not with you.” The corner of his mouth lifts into a wry smile.
I chew on my bottom lip. “What time is your meeting?”
He pulls his hand out of his pocket and glances down at his watch. “Twenty minutes.”
I didn’t want him to go. I wanted time to freeze with us both in this room. Reluctantly, I say, “Well, you don’t want to be late.”
A smile grows on his face. “Are you already missing me, Damsel?”
“You’re—” When his smile becomes smug, I roll my eyes with a groan and shove his shoulder playfully.
He steps closer, jerking his chin. “I’m what?”
I laugh. “The worst.”
He shakes his head. “Do you know what I think?”
I cross my arms. “I don’t particularly care.”
He sighs. “No need to tell lies.” When he turns to leave the bathroom, I feel like I have no other option but to follow him. Of course, I care what he thinks. He’s all the thoughts I find important enough to hear no matter how ridiculous.
“I think that you think I’m the opposite of the worst.” He turns suddenly and I’m backed against a wall. “You think I’m irresistibly charming. You think I’m so damn fascinating you could write a book about me.” His head dips and I feel his breath run down my neck. “You think I’m the best and denying it only makes the truth even sweeter.”
A shiver courses through me and when I think he’s going to kiss me, he doesn’t. Instead, he backs away.
I scowl at him. “Add cruel to that list of yours.”
He lets out a deep chuckle that has the hairs on my arms standing. I push him toward the door. “You’re seriously going to be late if you don’t go now.”
“The meeting is downstairs.”
“All the more reason you shouldn’t be late.”
“You’re just trying to get rid of me.”
