“Now, let’s go get dressed and run some errands.” I swat her ass as she steps out of the shower, with me following behind her. We wrap ourselves in towels and head to the bedroom, where she throws me a pair of panties and some socks.

“Here, these are new. You can have them since you only have the ones you wore last night. Hopefully, they work at least until you can get new ones today.”

“Thanks, baby,” I tell her as I step into the panties and shimmy them up my legs.

LORETTA

Exhausted is an understatement. We were gone all day, getting Jess squared away. Macaroni is now all set with new dishes, food, and treats. We got Jess the daily essentials, some clothes, and we stocked up on groceries. Before we came home, we stopped by her mom’s, and she grabbed a few small boxes of things she left there when she moved into her apartment.

We had a pizza delivered for dinner and are now laying in bed, snuggled tightly together. “So, Loretta, I know it’s a bit away yet, but Aiden and Cain’s big day is in two months,” she whispers against my hair. “Do you wanna be my date?”

I feel a huge grin take over my face, and I move my ass against her crotch. “I’d love nothing more than to go to the wedding with you.” I turn my head slightly so I can brush my lips gently across hers. Just as quickly as I kissed her, I turn back and close my eyes.

“You’re a naughty tease, babe,” she whispers into the dark.

Iwake up the next morning and wiggle my way out of Jessica’s arms, the urge to pee hits me hard. Rolling off the bed, I hurry to the bathroom, do my business, and wash my hands. I throw on a sleep shirt before I head to the kitchen to start breakfast. Both of us have to work today. Usually, a bagel and cream cheese is my go-to before work, but this morning I want to make something a little extra for my girl. Scrambling some eggs and dropping some bread in the toaster, I open the fridge to grab some of my homemade jam. Just as I’m plating the eggs and toast and setting the plates on the table, Jessica enters the kitchen.

She wraps her arms around me, giving me a kiss. “Morning, baby,” she murmurs.

“Morning. I hope you like to eat before work. I just wanted to do something special since it’s our first morning with a regular schedule.” I sit down at the table, lather jam on my toast, and take a bite, humming around the sweet strawberry flavor bursting on my tongue.

“Baby, you can’t make those types of noises or we’ll be late to work. I’d much rather you make them while I eat you,” she grins. I rub my thighs together at her words and the memory of her lapping at my pussy.Nope, can’t go there. We both have to work today.

After breakfast, I hop in the shower, wash my hair, scrub my skin, and step out, wrapping a towel around myself as Jess comes in and climbs in the shower. I slap her ass as she gets in, and I can hear her laughing as I leave the bathroom to finish getting ready. I throw on a navy off-the-shoulder baggy sweater, a pair of leggings, and roll some socks on before shoving my feet into my black combat boots. “Where did I leave my glasses?” I ask myself out loud.

Finding them sitting on the dresser, I slide them on and look at the clock.Shit! I’m going to be late! Not having time to dry my hair, I comb through it with my fingers quickly before creating two bubble braids that stop at the base of my neck and just let the hair flow freely from the braids. Jessica exits the bathroom dressed in a black pinafore dress with a white sheer cold shoulder top under it. She has ripped tights on and sits on the bed to put on a pair of platform oxfords.

“Ready?” she asks, and I look at her in question. “I thought since we work just down the street from each other, we could ride together. I’ll drive. Come on.” She jerks her head toward the door and stands, grabbing my hand and walking to the front door. “Shit, I almost forgot. Let me feed my cat,” she says as she goes to the pantry and grabs a can of cat food. I open the door and walk out to the car to wait, turning on the music and humming along.

“Get out of here, you lazy ass. You told me you know how to make Palmiers, and they look like crusty apple chips! You’re fired!” The new assistant chef scurries past me, throwing his apron on the floor as he storms away from Sugar Spines. I roll my eyes and shoot a text off to Aiden, letting him know candidate number four has failed, and he owes me fifty bucks. He thought for sure Dwight would love this assistant, but I knew from the moment he interviewed Gabe it would never work. Now I’m fifty dollars richer, but we are once again down an assistant chef.

Dwight will never admit it, but Garnett was the best assistant he had and the only person, minus Aiden and me, that didn’t get their feelings hurt by Dwight’s crass personality. However, our growly pastry chef is a stickler for honesty no matter what, and Garnett lied about her age so she could get the job; being seventeen instead of eighteen and with no high school diploma. When Dwight found out, he hit the roof. Aiden had to come put the fire out and let Garnett go, which ruined his first date with Cain. The whole situation was a shitshow, but we all, except Dwight, adore Garnett.

Stepping into the kitchen, I see Dwight dumping a platter of baked goods into the trash. “Everything okay in here, Dwight? I just saw Gabe run out of here like his ass was on fire.”

“Yes, everything is fine. I fired the incompetent child. He had no kitchen skills. I’m going to tell Aiden no more. I am just fine running this kitchen alone,” he bristles, and I sigh.

“Okay, well, can I help you with anything?” I ask.

“Can you make Palmiers?”

“No,” I tell him.

“Then get out. I love you, L, but I’ll be fine. Why don’t you go take that pretty little thing down the road to lunch?” He dumps flour, water, and butter in the mixer as he talks to me. That’s actually not a bad idea. I pull out my phone and check the time; it’s one PM.Perfect.

I pull my apron over my head and set it on the counter up front before turning the open sign to ‘out to lunch’ and locking the door as I leave. The walk to Orchid is quick since the store is just on the other end of Main Street. I walk into the store and the bell above the door dings. Jessica is by the register, fighting with a mannequin as she dresses it in a crop top and knee-length skirt. “Hey, Jess,” I greet as I step up to the counter.

She jumps, dropping the arm she is holding. “Shit, you scared me,” she breathes.

“Sorry, I came to see if you wanted to go to lunch?” I ask as I bend to pick up the arm and hand it back to her.

“Yeah, I can eat. Let me lock up and we’ll go to Ted’s and get something.” She sets her arm on the counter, grabbing her purse and keys. Lacing her fingers with mine, she leads me through the door and to her car once again. I slide into the seat next to hers as she gets in and pulls out onto the road, heading to Ted’s.

Sitting in a booth opposite one another, we look at our menus briefly in anticipation of our server coming over. “Hey, ladies, what can I get ya today?” Brenda asks as she steps up to our table with two waters and silverware.
