“Yes,” I answer her instantly, and she smiles at me before grabbing my hand to pull me down beside her. She rolls to her knees and straddles my right thigh, positioning her pussy over my swollen clit, and sits. Jessica grinds her pussy against mine slowly, groaning at the feel of our wetness sliding between us. Picking up speed, she thrusts her hips back and forth, riding my pussy as she pulls and twists her nipples.

“I’m gonna come on your sweet pussy, baby. Is that what you want, me to come all over you?” Jessica rides me harder and faster as we moan together at the feel of our sensitive flesh rubbing against the other. Her head falls back, mouth opening on a whine as she comes, and I can feel her release gush between us. “Come, Loretta!” I open my mouth in a wail, crying her name as she scissors me through it. When the spasms of my body stop, she rolls off of me, both of us covered in a sheen of sweat, and kisses me.

“You okay?” she asks while smoothing pieces of my hair out of my eyes.

“Yeah, I’m okay. More than okay, actually.” I smile at her, and she quirks one side of her mouth. “Best way to wake up from a nap ever,” I tease as I get up and head to the bathroom to wash up. I hear her light footsteps behind me. Grabbing a rag and wetting it with warm water, I wipe myself off and then do the same to her. Giving her a quick peck, I say, “I’m so glad you’re here, and not just because you give me mind-blowing orgasms.”

She throws her head back, cackles, and swats my ass. “Come on, Shakespeare, let’s go to bed. It’s almost eleven.” I move back to our bedroom, find my shirt, and slide it back on before climbing back into the bed. Jess slips a nightgown on and crawls in behind me, tugging me close to her chest with her arm wrapped around me. “Night, Lor,” she whispers against my hair.

“Night, Jess.”

MICHAEL

I’ve avoided Loretta at all costs for two weeks, and while it’s been hard, I don’t know what else to do. I need a grand plan to win her back and prove to her she is it for me. When I asked Cain and Aiden about her, they give me scraps of information. I asked if she was seeing another man and if that’s why they wouldn’t tell me anything about her. They assured me she wasn’t seeing another man. So at the very least, I have that working in my favor.

I can’t just waltz into Sugar Spines and surprise her after being gone for so long with no contact. A plan needs to be made, and right now, I’m at a damn loss on how to casually run into her. Cain thinks I should show up to work with him when he goes to visit Aiden. Best believe I won’t be taking advice from him since it took him nearly ten years to admit his feelings for his fiancé. We are two of a kind, waiting years to sort our feelings out; it must run in the gene pool.

Being early summer, the weather is warming up, and residents are wanting more projects done around their homes and businesses. The phone has been ringing off the hook with potential customers, and the phone rings once more. I answer. “Hello, Morale Construction, where we make your remodeling dreams a reality. How can I help you?”

“Hi, it’s Ted. I have a little situation here with a hole in the kitchen wall. Can you come take a look and tell me when and how much to repair it? I want it done ASAP,” Ted rambles.

Cain is currently over in Genoa, doing a bid for an elderly couple who want a chairlift installed on both sets of their stairs so they can access their whole house. I’ve been trying to pawn all the downtown addresses off on him, so I don’t risk being seen. My time has run out. I can only hope she’s at work. “Umm, yeah. I’ll be right there. Give me like ten minutes.” I hang up the phone, stand from the desk, and grab my keys.

Getting in my truck, I take a deep breath and blow it out slowly.I can do this. I’m acting like I’m heading to my death, for crying out loud. The worst that can happen is I run into my ex.Get it together, Mike. I start the truck and make my way to Ted’s. I’ll take a quick look, and I can call him with the information. Hell, I could even grab a bite to eat to-go; I’ve missed Ted’s Turkey Club.

I pull into the diner’s parking lot, get out of the truck, and make my way inside. Ted is standing behind the counter waiting for me with a beaming smile on his face. “Michael, I heard you were back in town. Haven’t seen you in years. Come on, I’ll show you the damage.” He leads me back through the door behind him and into the kitchen. Sure enough, there is a hole in the wall, waist height, and the size of a basketball.

I turn to look at Ted with a raised brow. He doesn’t even need me to speak to know I’m wondering how the hell this happened. His face reddens, and he looks up at the ceiling before nodding a few times in acceptance. “I’m seeing someone, and… well, things got a little heated in the kitchen last night. And umm, these old walls ain’t what they used to be. I’m just glad I saw Cain leaving town, gave me the perfect time to call, hoping you would answer,” he chuckles at the end of that statement.

“Why wouldn’t you want Cain—,” the answer hits me like a ton of bricks, and I bark out a deep laugh. “You’re telling me, Molly is the someone you’re seeing? That you defiled Cain’s momma in this kitchen and put a hole in the wall? This is gold, but also Cain is going to kill you,” I warn him while taking the measurements and jotting down the paint color and other supplies we’ll need.

“He’ll do no such thing, Michael. You’re going to keep this to yourself. At least until I can tell my children that I’m seeing someone. Do you hear me?” Molly scolds from behind me. I didn’t even hear her come in.

“Yes, ma’am,” I murmur.

“Thank you,” she quips and heads through a door on the other side of the kitchen, leading to Ted’s office.

“I’ll call you later today with a price and a date, and I’ll make sure I’m the one who does the repair. That way, your little secret stays with me.” I slide my tools back into my bag, shake his hand, and exit the kitchen, stopping at the cash register before I leave.

“What can I get ya, darling?” the woman behind the registers asks.

“Can I just get a turkey club with fries and a Dr. Pepper, please?” Not waiting for her to give me my total, I hand her my debit card. She rings me up, hands me back my card, and I move to the side to wait for my food.

Fifteen minutes later, my name is called, and she hands me the order. “Thank you.” I smile and nod while grabbing the bag. Turning, I take a drink of my pop while making my way to the door. Lost in the sweet, ice-cold drink, I don’t notice the door opening as I’m about to walk through.

“Michael?” a voice I’ve been trying to avoid questions, and I can already feel the pain and anger radiating under that one word. Looking up, I lock eyes with Loretta, cringing at the hurt written all over her face. “What are you doing here?”

“Umm,” I rub the back of my neck with my hand.Fuck, this is not how I wanted this to happen. Now I’m at a loss for words, and we’re just staring at each other, an awkward silence radiating between us. “I moved back.”

“When? Why?” she asks, and I can see the tears welling in her blue eyes.

“Been here two weeks or so, and I bought into Cain’s company,” I respond quietly, looking at the ground. Now that I hear the words coming out of my mouth, I’m mad I waited so long. She is going to think I was avoiding her, which was exactly what I was doing. A tear rolls down her cheek, and she hurries to wipe it away. Instinct has me taking a step toward her, closing the space between us. “Etta,” I whisper.

“Please don’t call me that! I need to go.” She turns and runs to her car, getting in and starting the engine without even buckling up. She backs out of her parking space, not even looking behind her. A car slams on its brakes to avoid hitting her, laying on its horn. She pays them no mind, putting the car in drive, tires squealing as she zooms away.

I step out of the doorway of Ted’s, letting the door fully close before taking a step to the side and leaning against the cool brick of the building. “Shit, that didn’t go well at all,” I sigh, tipping my head back and blowing out a breath. This was not what I saw happening when I envisioned us seeing one another again. There was no laughter and rainbows, but I didn’t expect crying and her running away.

Heading back to the truck, I get in and immediately pull my phone out of my pocket. I find Aiden’s number and add him to a group text with Cain.
