Maksim abruptly lifts me to straddle him, rubbing me against his swollen cock. “No, you can have them all removed. They are my father’s. I don’t hunt animals.”
I pause, leaning back to stare at him. “You only hunt humans?”
Oh my god, here is Wicked Maksim. One dark brow rises and he could not look more devilish. “As you well know, darling.”
Maksim…
She’s beautiful.
A scowling Megumi had done a beautiful job of decorating the lodge with flowers and swags of eucalyptus and evergreens. Dozens of white candles light the way for Ella to walk to me. Yuri stood beside me, slapping me on the back and murmuring, “The chances of her trying to run are much lower this time, eh, brother?”
“It is not too late to assign you a shift at the shit docks,” I remind him pleasantly. Even my idiot brother cannot irritate me today, because here she comes.
Tania walks first, grinning triumphantly as if she alone had brought us back together. Unfortunately, this is so close to the truth that I am forced to be civil to her for the rest of her life. And then, my sweet Ella. She’s wearing the same wedding dress because, as Tania gloatingly announced, “I picked it out in the first place and I knew Ella would love it.”
But this time, her face isn’t hidden behind the veil, her eyes aren’t red from crying, and her smile, the huge one that lights up her entire face, is very much in place. She is holding Ivan’s arm as he escorts her down the aisle, he looks close to weeping with happiness.
“Dearly beloved,” grins Patrick, “we are gathered here today to…” MyObshchakhas a license to perform a marriage in the State of New York. He claims he’s had it “forever,” but I suspected he ordered it just in time to marry us; I’ve never seen him so gleeful.
“...Do you, Maksim Aleksander Morozov, take Ella Givens Morozov as your lawfully wedded wife?” Patrick winks at me.
“I do,” I say, smiling down at Ella as I slip her wedding ring back on her finger.
“And do you, Ella Givens Morozov, take Maksim Aleksander Morozov as your lawfully wedded husband?”
“I absolutely do,” she says firmly with a saucy little grin.
“Then it is my honor to declare you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.”
I sweep Ella up in my arms. “Do you remember how long I kissed you at our last wedding?”
“I do,” she put her hand around my neck. “Tania?”
Her best friend laughs and with Yuri, shouts“Gorko!”
“Our kiss makes the bitter drink sweet,” Ella whispers, “let’s make this one for the record books.”
Ella…
Maksim raced us through the rest of the evening with an unseemly haste, though no one seemed in the mood to complain.
“Gimme a call tomorrow,” Tania whispered as she hugged me goodbye. “That is, if you have the strength to pick up the phone.”
“God, you are still sixteen, I swear,” I whispered back, hugging her harder.
“Goodnight, sister.” Yuri gave me three kisses, left, right, left, and then a kind smile. “I am happy to call you sister again, but I never stopped thinking of you as such.”
“If you make me cry, it’s going to ruin my fabulous bride makeup and you’ll be sorry,” I warned. “Thank you for everything, brother. For saving Maksim and me, for being the rock for all of us.”
He winked and escorted Tania out the door.
We were alone in that ridiculously large hunting lodge, even a sour-faced Megumi exited the entire region as soon as possible after packing the fridge with meals for the next few days. If only I could be sure she hadn’t poisoned them.
I shrieked as my husband swept me up in his arms and took the stairs two at a time until he reached the master bedroom.
“Is Megumi a secret romantic?” I gasped, “Look at this place!” There was a cheerful blaze in the massive fireplace, a distinct lack of dead animal heads, and more candles and flowers everywhere. She’d strung white lights on the headboard of the huge log bed and flickering from the bathroom indicated more candle decor was lit and ready to go in there.
“I’m looking at you,????????,”Maksim’s looking down at me and the tenderness from the wedding ceremony has passed. He’s gone Full Pakhan on me now.
