“I’m going to head out, okay?”
I turned to look at Iris after she spoke. “Are you sure? I can take you back to Westwick?”
I was referring to the fact that there was a stalker on the loose and who seemed to be taking things up a notch every time she told me a new story. It was also the reason why I didn’t mention anything about Easton because she had enough on her plate.
“I’m okay. I drove here from my dorm and there are still plenty of people and security around, so I feel safe.”
“If you’re sure.”
“I’m sure.”
“Well, text me when you get back to your dorm.”
I gave her a big hug and waved to her as she walked away. My brother and Raven were still quietly talking with one another, and it was then I realized Easton hadn’t shown his face yet. What the hell was taking him so long?
“Bianca,” I heard, and I turned to find my brother and Raven now watching me. I turned my body so I could give him a high-five.
“Excellent game today.”
“Thanks. There were some things we could improve on, but overall, it was a great game.”
I nodded in agreement. “It was a nail-biter a few times for sure.”
I barely heard my phone over the loud noises that were carrying on around me.
Easton: I’ll be out in a few. Wait for me.
For some reason, reading those words sent my body into a panic. What was he going to have me do?
“Everything okay?”
I looked up, startled, at Raven who had a look of concern on her face. Nash was looking at me curiously as well, as if he was trying to figure out what was up.
“Yeah, everything is fine,” I lied as I swallowed hard.
My mind felt as if it was in a free fall with no end in sight. How was any of this going to work with Easton, with Nash and Raven right here?
As if I’d summoned him, I saw Easton walking toward us, looking every bit the bad boy that I knew him to be. His eyes were clearly on me, focused on my torso and the jersey I was wearing. When he walked up to us, he gave Raven a small, short hug, and then turned to me with a smirk on his face. I dared him to hug me, and he wisely chose not to.
“Shit, we have reservations at a restaurant, and we’re already cutting it close because of how long it took to get out here. We also have to drop Bianca off.”
“I can do that,” Easton volunteered.
Of course, he could.
“Not to worry. I can find my own way back.”
“That’s silly,” Easton said. “I’ll do it, and it’s not a problem.”
“Only if you’re sure,” Nash said as he looked at Easton and then me for confirmation.
“It’s fine,” I said, not wanting to be the cause of my brother and his girlfriend missing their date.
"Come on," Nash said, breaking the tension. "Let's get out of here and get something to eat. Thanks for taking Bianca home, man.”
“It’s not an issue.”
Nash grabbed Raven's hand and began pulling her toward the door.
