And this was before his lips touched my skin.
The gasp that fell out of my mouth when he kissed my neck bounced along every wall in this room. My brother's best friend had kissed me, let alone in the basement of a stranger’s house. The feel of his lips stayed on my skin as I wished that he would do it again and again and again.
As if he could read my mind, he left a trail of kisses along my neck. I wanted to beg him to kiss me elsewhere too, but I was at a loss for words. When we suddenly heard a loud banging noise, Easton jumped back from me as if I was too hot to touch. I whipped around to look at him, and I could read the look in his eyes immediately.
Regret.
"Bianca, I shouldn't have done that. I'm—"
I put my hand up to stop him. "Save it. I don't want to hear it."
"But—"
I shook my head and rolled my eyes before I caught myself. The moment that we shared together felt as if it had been slammed to the ground and shattered into a million pieces, much like my heart.
"Easton, this has been fun, but I'm going to go."
How I managed to keep my voice steady, I didn't have a clue. While I hadn't had time to process my emotions from this entire encounter, something deep within me forced me not to panic or cry at the rejection I experienced. When I was away from him, I could cry, but I refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing my tears.
"I'll go with you back to Nash's."
"Thanks, but no thanks."
I turned on my heel and took a step toward the door before I felt his hand on my wrist. His hold wasn't tight enough to hurt me, but it would take some tugging for me to break loose from him. I glanced down at where we shared a connection before looking back up into his now stormy green eyes.
"I'll go with you back to Nash's." His voice was firmer this time, not leaving me room to argue with him.
I pulled my wrist free from his grip and he let me go without a fight. I threw my hands up in the air and walked out of the room with the assumption that he was going to follow. When we walked back out into the main part of the basement, I didn't see Lucy or her friends anywhere. With all these people around me and the sound of the music seemingly pouring out of every corner of this basement, I felt completely and utterly alone as I took a couple of seconds to process what had happened between Easton and me.
What I did know was that I needed to get away from him as quickly as possible. If that meant having to deal with him for a few more minutes while he did his "gentlemanly duty" and made sure I was safely back at Nash's apartment, then so be it.
To save even more time, I pulled out my phone once we reached the top of the stairs to call a car. I didn't want to have to awkwardly wait longer for a car to arrive if I didn't have to.
I scanned the main floor of the house to see if I spotted Lucy or any of the other girls, but I came up empty. I assumed they all probably ended up going to another house party while I was playing beer pong with Easton. As if someone had heard my pleas, I noticed the driver who'd decided to pick me up was only a block away, meaning I would have to spend less time with the man of the hour.
Easton walked around me and opened the door for me. I mumbled a quick thank you as I walked through the door, and just as we hit the porch, a car pulled up to the front of the house.
"Is that the car?" he asked.
"Think so," I said as I showed him the license plate. Easton walked ahead of me again and walked toward the back of the car while the driver rolled down his window.
"Bianca?" he asked, and I nodded.
During this time, Easton walked back around toward the car door nearest me and opened it. He gestured for me to get in and he walked around to get in on the other side. Once Easton was seated with his seat belt on, the driver pulled away from the curb.
I had no intention of starting a conversation with anyone in this car and maybe it was due to the vibes that I was giving off, but neither guy tried to talk to me, and I was grateful for that. I didn't want to pretend to be friendly right now, instead choosing to withdraw into myself until I was ready to face the world again.
The ride to Nash's apartment was quiet. As soon as the car pulled to a stop outside of the building, I broke the silence. "Are you going to take me up to the front door as well?"
Easton looked at me for a split second before undoing his seat belt and stepping out of the car. I took my seat belt off as he opened my door. I thanked my driver and walked into Nash's building with Easton right behind me. I gave the person working at the front desk a polite smile as we walked to the elevator bank.
Easton and I stepped into the elevator and made it up to Nash's floor in complete silence. I was just a few seconds away from escaping his presence.
When we reached Nash's door and I unlocked it, I looked over my shoulder at Easton and said,"I don't want to talk about this night ever again."
"Deal. This night never happened."
"I'll see you around."Not if I could help it.
