The amount of steam coming from the shower and the frosty shower doors made it hard to make out the details of what I was seeing, but it was, without a doubt, a man with a very muscular back. While keeping my eye on the figure in the shower, I saw a cellphone sitting on the bathroom countertop and I grabbed it. When I pressed one of the buttons on the side, the screen illuminated, allowing me to see the background image on the phone. Imagine my surprise when I saw Easton’s jersey appear on the screen.
I gasped louder than intended when I realized who was taking a shower in my brother’s apartment.
Easton.
I tried to back away slowly from the scene that was unfolding in front of me, but suddenly Easton turned the water off. The silence that surrounded us with the water turned off made it impossible for me to sneak out.
I still had no idea where Nash was and why Easton was taking a shower here. I stared down at the knife in my hand and realized that it was probably unnecessary for me to be holding it anymore. Instead, I placed the knife down on the counter, hitting Easton’s phone and making a loud noise.
My eyes widened as I watched Easton freeze briefly before yanking the shower door open. He was naked as the day he was born and looking as if he might attack me. The angry look on his face only lasted for a minute before a smug look replaced it.
“Why didn’t you just join me?”
I rolled my eyes. “Excuse me?”
“In the shower. You could have just joined me. Did you want to see if my cock was still as big as you remembered it?” He used his hand to push back his hair that was stuck to his forehead.
“Can you stop thinking with your dick for a moment?”
“Not when you’re staring at it like you want me to bend you over the counter and fuck you with it.”
The blush in my cheeks had nothing to do with the hot shower that Easton had been taking.
“Can you at least wrap a towel around your waist?”
“No. You barged in when I was showering, and I’m feeling rather comfortable being naked in the bathroom.”
I took another deep breath to stop myself from snapping at him. Arguing with him wouldn’t do anything but waste more time. “Where’s Nash?”
“He’s not here,” Easton said. The water on his chest moved toward his waist, leaving a trail I couldn’t help but follow with my eyes. He was trying to distract me and was doing a very good job of it.
“Where did he go?”
“I’m not sure.”
“What do you mean you’re not sure?”
"Look, Bianca," Easton sighed as his entire demeanor changed. He reached for a towel, and as he was wrapping it around his waist, he said, "I don't know all the details. The only thing he said was that he wanted me to gather some things for him from his apartment. He also wanted me to grab stuff from Raven’s as well."
"Some things?" I repeated, not sure that I believed him. "You have to know more than that."
“Let’s talk after I get some clothes on.”
Easton’s seriousness put me on edge, increasing my fear that something had happened to Nash. But I could at least wait for Easton to put on clothes.
Without another word, I stumbled out of the guest bathroom and slammed the door behind me. My face burned with a mixture of anger and embarrassment from not having answers about my brother and from watching his best friend shower.
I leaned against the hallway wall, trying to calm myself down. Everything around me felt as if it was one big, jumbled mess that I wasn’t sure I could untangle.
"Get it together, Bianca," I muttered under my breath, "None of this is about you."
Seeing Easton naked in the shower stirred up feelings within me that I had been trying to suppress due to how much of an asshole he was and how he treated me. Not to mention the shitty offer he’d given me days ago. Now I was sitting here fantasizing about him, when I should have been worried about my brother.
I walked away from the wall and into the living room. As I waited for him to finish, I couldn’t help but be annoyed that my brother had decided to trust Easton and not me. Not that he couldn’t have told Easton in addition to me, but after all we’d been through, why hadn’t he filled me in on what was going on? Did he trust Easton more than me? Was it because I was his kid sister?
But as the minutes ticked by and Easton still hadn’t come out, doubts began to creep into my mind. Maybe Nash didn’t trust me.
“Fuck, why does everything have to be so complicated?"
