Nash opened the door to the locker room, and we walked to get our things. As I was gathering my stuff, Nash turned to me and said, “Let's go get some food.”
I thought about the things I needed to do. A shower was still on top of the list, but I was also starving, so I said, “Why not? We need to eat.”
“Is that the only reason you’re hanging out with me?”
That forced a laugh out of me. “That’s totally the reason.”
There were many reasons why I’d originally become friends with Nash, but eating dinner with him wasn’t one of them.
Nash and I got ready and left campus to get some food at a local fast-food restaurant. Once we’d ordered and received our food, we found a booth to eat at and didn’t speak while we stuffed food into our mouths.
As I grabbed a napkin to wipe my mouth, I said, “So how are things with Raven?”
I watched Nash’s face to see if his expression would give anything away, but it didn’t. “Things are progressing the way that they should be. We’ve had so many parties to attend over the last few weeks, including one that my parents threw. Speaking of that party, I brought her as my date.”
I cleared my throat before I said, “I know that didn’t go well.”
“You’re damn right it didn’t, but it was well worth the drama it caused."
Nash had a habit of trying to piss his parents off, and I could only imagine what they thought when Raven walked in as his date. His mentioning a dinner party at his parents' home reminded me of Bianca and I hated it. I’d done my damnedest to get her off my mind since the last time I thought about her, and now I was thinking about her again. I wasn’t ever going to stop at this point.
Our small talk continued until we finished our meal and then we went our separate ways. I headed back to my apartment, showered, and lounged in front of my television until I could convince myself that I needed to do the homework I had due for tomorrow. At least I only had one class to worry about so it wouldn’t be too bad.
Once my assignment was complete, I got into bed and had a dreamless sleep.

The next afternoon,I was busy working out, enjoying the feel of my limbs burning as I lifted weights. Since I had only one class today, working out on days like today meant that I had more time to dedicate to it. Once I was done with my last bicep curl, I grabbed my things and took the elevator back to my apartment.
I had just settled on my couch when my phone rang.
“Yo,” I said when I answered the call.
“Are you busy?”
“Nah. I’m done with my classes for today. Why? What do you need?”
“I need you to stop by my place and then head to Raven’s. I’ll send you a list of things to grab and drive it over here to me.”
I sat up from where I was laying on my couch and asked, “Wait, why? Where the hell are you?”
“I’ll send you the address, and then when you get here, I’ll give you further directions.”
“I’m going to need more information than that and you know it. What the hell is going on?”
“Look, I won’t be on campus for a few days, and I need some things from my apartment because I didn’t have time to grab them before I left,” Nash said.
“Why does this sound like a secret ops mission?” The question sounded ridiculous coming out of my mouth, but I was only half-joking.
“Can you do it or not?”
His comment was abrasive and took me by surprise. “Yes. Text me the address and what you need, and I’ll swing by both of your homes and get it.”
“Thanks.”
“But I also want to know what is going on.”
“Fine. We’ll discuss it when you get here.”
