“That’s good of him.”

“Yeah, I think he’d still be happier with me taking a longer vacation.”

“You can stay here longer.”

“No, I want to get back to work.”

“Well, I probably won’t see you before you leave,” she sits on the couch next to me. “I’ve liked having you around the last couple of days.”

“Yeah, me too. You do know we share an apartment in L.A., right?” I say, winking at her.

“Yeah, but you’re always working.”

“Hey, don’t put all that on me. You work just as crazy hours.”

“Yeah, I know. Text me from the airport and again when you land.”

“Yes, Mom,” I smile at her.

“Jenna, you’ve been so sad the last couple of days. It’s like you guys really have broken up.”

“I know. We thought it would be easier this way. I’m not going to lie. I’m thinking it was a stupid idea.”

“Well, I think you’ve fooled everyone but me, so maybe there is a career in Hollywood. After all, Mom and Dad would have gotten a kick out of that. They’d have teased you endlessly about falling for your teen crush.”

“I know,” I say, giving her a weak smile. Georgia tries to talk to me about our parents as often as she can, and every time my heart gets a little harder to deal with it.

She kisses my forehead. “Ping me your flight details.”

“Already have,” I smile. We’ve done this every time either of us has taken a flight ever since our parents died.

Iwalk through the arrivals gate and find a driver holding a card with my name. He takes my small rolling case off me as we walk towards a black SUV. Opening the door, I see Reid and Dominic sitting together, and I’m confused.

“What the…”

“Get in. We need to talk.”

The driver laughs, closing the door behind us and getting in the front seat.

“I pulled out of the superhero movie,” Reid says, and tears fill my eyes, and I can’t help feeling the pull on the smile that’s trying to escape from my lips.

I know I told him I’d dump his ass quick, for real, if he did, but the truth is, I’ve been miserable the last week without the guys. “You did that for me?” I can feel my bottom lip shaking, so I bite it to stop it from quivering anymore.

“I did it for us,” Reid says, pulling my head to his and kissing me.

“Thank you,” I say. I know what Reid has given up for this, and I love that he’s put us first. I look at Dom; his smile isn’t as bright as I thought it would be at this news.

“Josh needs me to split my time between London and here over the next few months.”

“Wow, that’s big.” I smile back. “We’ll make it work.”

“You’re not mad?” He finally looks relieved.

“Not at all. This is a huge step for you, Dom. I know you’ve felt like you were stuck where you were. Josh must trust you. Don’t fuck it up.

I feel Reid laugh as he pulls my body against his. “Saying goodbye to you in your office was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.”

“Yeah, it’s not something I’m in a rush to experience again.”
