“Yeah, I can’t say I blame her right now.”

“Well, if that’s everything, I’m going to go back to my desk and get on with my work.”

“I can’t believe I’m doing this,” Josh whispers. “Mike, Adrien, and I are going to London next week. You’re coming with us, but I’m going to want to stay for a couple of weeks, maybe a little longer. Not being in the same building as Jenna and Reid might do you good for a few weeks.”

“Okay, but usually I’d reach out to Jenna for Adrien’s private plane.”

“Yeah, and you’re still going to now. You think I’m going to make this week easy on you?”

I laugh. I guess not. Josh is ever the optimist.

We agreed that none of us was going to get in touch with each other until next week. Reid sent us both a new number for him.

I send her an email asking for the access codes for the private plane account. I’m not going to bother her with stuff I can handle myself.

WHERE’S MY LOVE: SYML

This week has been hard. Really hard. I didn’t realize how much I’d been burying myself in work until I had neither of my guys around anymore. I’ve eaten lunch at my desk every day since the ‘breakup,’ and I don’t even have to pretend to be sad. I came up with the great and stupid idea that if we sell this thing, we need to be radio silent with each other for a few weeks. On the wall opposite my desk is a TV screen, and I’m usually distracted by work that I rarely pay any notice. It’s mainly on so that if anything big happens, we can find out about it. It’s also good when Adrien has a meeting running long, and he has clients waiting.

I’m clearing my desk, ready for the weekend, when an image of a woman and Greyson Huntington emerges on the TV screen. I unmute the TV.

“Our sources close to billionaire Greyson Huntington or Huntington Media Group have said he’s been kidnapped. It’s unsure at this moment if a ransom demand has been requested,” says a woman on the news.

I open Adrien’s office, and he looks up from his screen. I don’t usually walk in. “Greyson Huntington has been kidnapped.” That is all I say when he picks up his desk phone and presses a couple of buttons.

Adrien and Greyson have been working on something for a couple of weeks, but I haven’t been brought in on the deal yet. “My sister’s working for him in New York right now.” The words are out of my mouth before I can even register what’s happening. Why was my first instinct to tell Adrien and not call my sister?

I run back to my desk and hit call on Georgia’s number, but the call keeps on ringing. “Pick up the damn phone George,” I whisper, my body falling onto the chair. I keep my eyes on the screen the whole time but don’t pay attention to what’s happening until I see my sister approaching the press.

“ADRIEN!” I shout, and Adrien, Sara, and Alexandria come to my desk.

“Greyson Huntington and his lawyer Chloe Lawson are currently missing. Both were guests at tonight’s event. Huntington Media Group's annual charity event is a staple on the New York social scene. I can confirm that the FBI has been called and is involved, as well as a private security team working closely with the event.” Georgia moves away from the press and out of the shot of the camera.

“Do you want me to call anyone?” Sara asks, bending down, so she’s squatting next to my desk.

“No, I’m good. Georgia is okay and doing her job. That’s a huge weight off my shoulders.”

Adrien’s phone rings in his pocket, and he tells Sara it’s Bryan, leaving us as he walks into his office.

“Do you want me to call Dominic?” Sara said her attention solely on me. I feel a little in shock. I know my sister is fine, but she’s worked for Greyson for years. I’m surprised she’s not moved to New York, but she’s a PR and fixer, and she said she likes working for herself, even if Greyson is her biggest client.

“No,” I say, a little too firm.

“Jenna, I know you broke up, but he was your friend for years before.”

“No. I’m still mad at them. Georgia will be busy, and she told me she would be away for a few weeks, anyway.”

“Right, well, I don’t like the idea of you being alone. You can come and stay at the house with Adrien and I. We’ll stop by your apartment, and you can pick up a bag on the way.”

I nod and see Alexandria in the corner on her phone, typing away. What the hell is she up to? “I’d like that. It’s been a while. You know I love your place.” I smile weakly at her.

“Adrien won’t mind. I know he’s been worried about you too.” She winks at me.

“Sara,” I pause. “Thanks for everything. I’m glad you and Adrien have each other, and you’re part of the team.”
