“Me too, babe.” Reid groans.
“So, I agree, Reid needs to take this job. Glad you talked some sense into him on that.”
I hear a slap on the other end of the call, and I wish I could see my guys together. Bonding like it sounds like they are right now.
“Guys, what’s the plan?” I sit back and twist in Adrien’s chair. He has a nice office, and seeing it from this position is weird.
“We’re going to break up publicly and loudly, but on the inside, we’re going to be in constant contact. This is going to make us stronger. I meant what I said this weekend, Jenna. We both did. We’re in this for the long haul.”
“I second this. So Reid is going to come up to your office later…”
The guys tell me the plan, and it sounds just out there enough that I think it might actually work. They’ve put a lot of work into this. I’m impressed that they seem to have thought of everything.
“I can’t take credit. Dominic came up with most of it,” Reid says.
“I’m impressed,” I laugh.
“Yeah, I’m good at damage control and putting out fires.”
“Maybe you need to move here and work for Adrien instead.”
He laughs. “No, I don’t need that kind of stress. Josh gives me enough.”
“Is Josh pissed he might be put under a microscope again? I know he wasn’t happy last summer.”
“That was because it involved Issy. But I get why he was so protective. I mean, I got it before. But I get on a much higher level now.”
“So, we’re starting to put this plan in place today?” My heart tightens just a little. I can’t let the boys down on this.
“I think the sooner we do it, the more impact it will have. You know how new cycles work.” Reid groans. “If it was any other job…”
I don’t let Reid finish that sentence. “Reid, you’ve dealt with so much shit since you were a teen in this industry. No way am I going to let them take away the one thing you’ve always wanted. I meant what I said. This wouldn’t be an act.”
“That’s what I’ve been telling him for the last hour.” Dominic pipes in. He’s the most thoughtful of the three of us. Reid and I can be a bit hot-tempered, but he will be a calming influence.
“Okay, I need to get back to my desk, and Adrien needs his office back.”
“I bet you look hot as fuck sitting behind his desk.”
All three of us laugh at Reid’s comment. I’m quickly reminded of our night at the club; all three of us joined together. It will probably be the last time we’ll be together like that, at least for a while.
“Guys, we need this to be as brutal as possible if we’re going to sell this. I’m not going to hold back any punches. Go big, or go home, right?”
“Right!” Both guys say in unison as the laughter between us all comes to an abrupt stop.

REID
CAN’T PRETEND: TOM ODELL
“She’s stronger than both of us,” Dom says from his seat opposite me on the couch.
“I know. What did we do to deserve her?”
“Hopefully, she’ll make us better guys.”
“She’s already done that,” I say, meaning it completely. I knew the moment I sat in the waiting area outside Adrien’s office that she would change my whole world. My first sight of her in the lobby last year was pure attraction. This, this is what love is. It’s painful, and it’s deep, and I know no other woman is going to get me like she does.
