I’LL STAND BY YOU: PRETENDERS
“Last night on Hollywood News, we reported that Reid Taylor is going to be taking on the lead role in the next Sunshine Studio’s superhero movie. Reid Taylor was big in the early 2000s when he grew up on our TV screens. He is the show-runner and guest star on Banks Media’s hit teen drama and…” I mute the TV in my office and head into the open space the writers are using to work out how the end of this season will end.
The room is a mixture of laughs and jokes as we get to work when my phone starts to buzz on the desk in front of me. Dominic’s name and face flash on my screen.
“Where are you?” Dominic sounds out like he’s rushing.
“In the writer's room…”
“Get in your office. I’m on my way across.” He hangs up the phone before I can ask him anything else. My phone vibrates in my hand.
G: I thought I told you to keep a low profile!
What the fuck is happening?
I’m just about to open the door to my office when Dominic swings through the door like a bull in a china shop.
“What’s up? My manager has sent me a message too. I need to get back to him.”
“Someone has leaked to the press about the three of us.”
Dom’s words ring out in my head, and a small panic comes over me. But not for myself, which I’m kind of surprised about.
“I’ve tried to call her, but her office line is busy, and she’s not picking up any of my calls or opening any of my messages.”
“She’s pissed. I know she is.” Dominic says, slamming the door behind him. “But we cannot march up there. She’d hate us both for that.”
I know he’s right. On some level, I know Jenna well enough to know us going up there will cause her even more stress than she’s already under. I need to hear her voice. “I’m calling Adrien.”
“No, you’re not. She would hate that we're waving our dicks around up there.”
I burst out laughing, and Dominic follows. A huge amount of stress leaving my body. I grab two bottles of water from the fridge on the other side of my office and throw one at Dom. “We need to find out who talked.” Dominic sits on the couch. “I have a hunch, but I’d need some proof.”
“I know who might be able to find out something,” I say as I pull my phone out of my pocket.
“You movie stars have a guy for everything, don’t you?”
“Like you wouldn’t believe.” I laugh.
Jax: Answer your damn phone.
Reid: Sorry man, only just found out.
Reid: I need you to do me a favor.
Jax: Mike is going mental. He wants me to do a background check on all his employees.
Reid: I bet Kate has her work cut out.
Jax: It’s funny that you think Mike is the one not with a clear head right now.
Reid: You know what I need you to do?
