They’d know. I know they would. I don’t know how, but they would, and I don’t want to disappoint either. All they’ve asked me not to do is cum. Simple right?

“Jenna, are you okay?” Sara asks as she approaches Adrien’s office.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Just have a lot to do before lunch.”

“I know we don’t know each other that well. I’ve never wanted to insert myself into your life. You and Adrien have this bond that I know he appreciates. It’s why I’ve never wanted to add even more pressure to your workday.”

Where is Sara going with this?

“I’ve hired an assistant.”

I roll my seat back a bit.

“She’s going to work down the corridor. Outside where my other door opens up, and Alex's office will eventually be.”

“Bet Adrien loves the idea of that,” I laugh.

“I told him I could always move back downstairs, and Alex could have my office.”

We both burst out laughing, knowing Adrien would let hell freeze over before that happened.

“I know it’s been you and Adrien against the world for so long, but Adrien is finally learning to delegate, and I need to do the same. Maybe we both need to as well. The company has grown big and quickly. I’m surprised the both of you haven’t had a nervous breakdown yet.”

“Adrien was close to burnout last year. It’s why I made him extend his stay for the wedding.”

“Thank you,” Sara smiles.

“For what?” I ask, confused.

“For looking after him. So that the man I love was still there when I returned to my senses.”

Sara has never been like this with me before. Everything has always been work-related, and I don’t know how I feel about this–whatever this is.

“What has Adrien said about all this?”

“He’s happy. You’ll be in charge of the floor still. While they will be my assistant, they will report to you as well as me. Finally, when Alex moves up here and has his own assistant, it will be your responsibility, but Adrien knows you can handle it. He just didn’t know how to talk to you about it. He loves you like a sister Jenna. I hope you know that?”

“I do, and he annoys me like a brother most of the time.”

We both laugh as Adrien’s door opens.

“You're a wimp,” I smile at him.

“It comes with a pay increase.”

“Adrien, you already pay me a lot.”

“Jenna, this is non-negotiable.”

I nod, knowing he’s not going to change his mind. “I may be late coming back from lunch.”

“Who’s it with today?” He asks.

“That’s none of your business,” Sara says, smiling my way. “You, back in your office. I need to go over these reports with you because I have better ideas for later tonight.”

I laugh to myself as Sara closes the door behind them.
