I close my eyes as Blake guides me to the couch.

“Keep them closed.” I hear a rustling noise before Blake takes my hand and presses something into it. “Open them.”

Blake, now in a simple black T-shirt, is sitting on the coffee table in front of me. The package in my hands is a small box, complete with a big pink bow.

Pulling the lid off, I find a small book sitting on a bed of tissue paper.

The title?

Our Story.

“Blake…” My eyes are watery as I pull the book out and open it to the first page.

It starts with Blake arriving in Dixon. I turn each page, greedy for the next. I know this story. Lived every minute of it with him, but it’s like I’m reliving everything for the first time.

Including… “Oh God, the horse shit. I still can’t believe I ran into you.”

“Thank God you did.”

“I can’t believe you made this.”

His hand is on my knee, tapping out a nervous rhythm. The first hike together. The storm. Our fishing trip. Every moment of our love story plays out on these pages.

To the very end.

Where there’s a little picture of Blake down on one knee in front of me.

My breath catches in my throat, eyes flying up to meet his.

“What do you think?” He has an anxious look on his face.

I smile back at him. “Three stars.”

Blake goes from anxious to confused in the blink of an eye. “Three stars? Really?”

“I didn’t actually hear a proposal…”

“Oh, you want a real proposal?” Blake asks, his dimple popping out. “I think I can give you that.”

Blake stands, grabbing an even smaller black box from his pocket before taking a knee.

Every single nerve is buzzing as he takes my hand in his.

“From the very first moment I met you, I knew you were different. You’ve helped me in ways I never thought possible. You are one of the kindest, most genuine people I’ve ever met, and I don’t ever want to be apart from you. I’m never happier than when I’m here with you, and if you’ll let me, I’ll spend my entire life trying to do the same for you.”

Tears are falling down my face as Blake pops open the box. A simple, round diamond sits on a gold band. It’s beautiful.

“You, Gemma Winchester, are the single greatest thing that was ever happened to me. Will you marry me?”

He barely says the words before I’m throwing my arms around him. “Yes! Of course, yes!”

Strong arms wrap around me. Blake buries his face in my neck, dropping kisses along my shoulder.

“Thank God. I about had a panic attack when I asked your grandpa and your brothers.”

“And you’re still breathing?” I laugh.
