I have an overwhelming urge to want to impress Gemma’s family. I see the way she talks about them. There’s nothing but love and adoration.

Quite the contrast to my family life being shuffled between nannies on movie sets.

“I promise, they are going to love you.” There’s a tenderness in her eyes that helps calm me down.

“As long as I don’t ask Logan about football, or look at you like I know what you look like naked, I’m good?”

Gemma snorts. “You’ll be perfectly fine.”

“And if it’s not?”

Gemma leans closer, her breath ghosting over my lips. “Then I’ll think of a way to make you feel better.”

I lean into her, wanting to take her back to my bed and have my way with her. “Think I can get an advance on the cheering up?”

But before I can kiss her, she leaps out of my hold. “Hold on to those thoughts, cowboy. I’ve got to get over to the lodge and get some stuff done.”

“You’re really going to leave me in distress all day?” I whine.

She nods and hops back to my room. “It’ll make it better tonight, I promise.”

I don’t know how this woman plays me like a fiddle, but she does.

And I can’t say that I don’t love it.

GEMMA

“Do I look okay?”

Blake smooths his hands over his chest. The flannel shirt stretches across his broad chest in a mouth-watering way. It’s like his jeans were made for him. I can’t resist keeping my hands on him.

“Do a spin for me.” I wiggle my finger in a circle. He gives me an assessing eye before doing as I ask.

As expected, his ass looks perfect in those jeans.

“Oh, yeah. You’re looking good, cowboy.” Squeezing his ass, I smirk as he gives me a dirty smile over his shoulder.

“Am I just a piece of meat to you?” He laughs.

“Oh, no.” I drop a kiss on the side of his neck. I love the cinnamon smell that seems to cling to every inch of him. I slide my hands around his waist, pulling him back into me. “So much more than that.”

“Like what?”

“I don’t know if we have enough time for that before dinner. And we don’t want people to think we’ve been up to no good.”

“You’re killing me, Gemma.”

“Remember what I said. After dinner.”

I pat his chest and hop down off the porch.

“You’re lucky my nerves are getting the best of me, otherwise I’d drag you back inside this cabin and have my way with you.”

Flutters burst out of my stomach. Everything I’m feeling for Blake is new. I never felt like this with past boyfriends. It’s fun and exciting.

I know I shouldn’t get attached. Blake is only here for a few more weeks. But I can’t help it. The more I’m with him, the more I want to be with him.
