Heat is gathering in my core. I haven’t felt this way in a long time.

One of the downsides of growing up in a small town is you know everyone. Every sordid detail of every guy’s past. Who they dated. Whose heart they broke.

Now that Blake’s here, he’s all I can think about, and I don’t have to worry about any of those things with him.

He pulls back.

“I have a proposition for you.”

“Oh, yeah? I hope it involves more of that.”

I want Blake to stop talking and start kissing me again.

He smiles against my lips. “If you agree, then there will definitely be more of that.”

“Go on.”

“I think you and I could enter into a mutually beneficial relationship.”

“Blake, get to the point.”

“I need help figuring out the finer points of western life, and you, based on your comments last night, could use some help navigating sex.”

“What?” I shove Blake back, flying out of bed. “You can’t bring this up before I’ve even had coffee!”

My voice sounds shrieky. I don’t think anyone has ever propositioned me for sex before.

No, I know so.

“You’re the one who brought it up last night.”

“Me? No, I didn’t.” I really need to get my voice under control. I’m approaching a volume only dogs can hear.

“Would you like me to remind you?”

“Stop saying it like that.”

“Like what?” Blake gives me a cunning grin. He knows exactly what he’s doing.

And I hate that I’m letting him get to me.

“Like you know what I look like naked.” I point a finger at him. “Because you don’t.”

“But I could.”

That shuts me up.

I can’t help but let my eyes rake over him. He’s wearing the same thing from last night. I guess neither of us bothered to change.

My eyes shoot back up to meet his. That same smile is staring back at me.

“But…how? Why? Just…why?”

I’m stunned speechless. Something that seems to happen around this guy.

“Do you need a minute?”

“What I need is more details.”
