“I guess it’s okay.”

“Yes!” Willow takes off toward the main lodge, a blur of dust kicking up behind her.

“She’s pretty great,” Blake tells me. “How old is she?”

“Seven going on seventeen. She thinks she runs the show around here.”

“Giving you a run for your money then?”

“Me? I’m just a lowly front desk employee.”

“Really?” Blake raises a brow as we follow in Willow’s wake.

“There have always been other people in charge until now. But with my brother needing more help and attention, it’s kind of fallen to the wayside.”

“What happened to your brother?”

“He got injured playing football. He got septic in the hospital, but thankfully he’s okay now. It’s taken a lot of surgeries to repair his leg, so it’s a new normal for all of us.”

“Wow, I’m sorry to hear that, Gemma.”

I’m not one to talk about things like this with virtual strangers. Something about Blake makes it easy to open up to him.

“He’s okay, so that’s all that matters.”

“You plan on staying around here then?” Blake stuffs his hands into his pockets as we hit the porch.

I nod. “Dixon is my home. There’s no other place in the world I could imagine living.”

“It does have a certain charm to it.”

I laugh. “I take it you haven’t been into town yet?”

“Not yet, no.”

“You don’t want to miss out on it. Dixonites are quite the townspeople.”

“Maybe you could give me the grand tour?”

“Sure. I’d like that.” I don’t even hesitate. I want to spent more time with this man.

“Me too.”

Blake and I are standing on the porch, neither one of us quite knowing what to do. I want to draw this out, spend more time with him. Turns out, I’m not the only one.

Willow bursts outside. “Oh my God! Aunt Gemma! C’mon, I want to make sundaes!”

Grabbing Blake’s hand, Willow drags him inside.

“You coming with? I might need help with my sprinkles.” The corners of Blake’s lips quirk up.

“Only to help with the sprinkles.”

I follow after the two of them.

I guess I’m not the only Winchester taken with Blake. And I can’t decide if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

I’ll have to settle for sundaes until then.
