I’m not paying attention to where we’re going, but the next thing I know, my feet have carried us to the barn.
“You’re not going to try and dump more horse shit on me again, are you?” Blake takes a single step back, out of my reach.
My face scrunches up, trying not to laugh. “Not today, no. What are you doing here?”
“It’s not obvious?” He quirks a brow at me.
“I mean, I get that you’re here. But why? For how long?”
A million questions start firing through my head.
He’s here. Seeing him, seeing that face that I love so much, settled all the aching, tender parts of my heart.
But for how long? I don’t want to get my hopes up if he’s here visiting. My heart couldn’t take that.
“Turns out you can’t film a western show at the beach.”
Oh. The hope that filled me at seeing him rushes out of me. He’s filming the show here.
“You’ll be here for a few weeks then?”
He shakes his head. “No.”
“How long then?”
“For good, if you’ll have me.”
“What about your job?”
Blake steps into my space. I forgot how all-consuming this man is.
“Teton Grandis going to take up a lot of my time for the next few months. And if it goes well, which we think it will, then a few years.”
“Years?” My voice shakes.
“Years. I might have to travel a bit from time to time, but I want to make Dixon home.”
“You do?”
Oh God, Gemma. Can you not string together more than two words? The man who has taken up almost every thought of mine over these last few weeks is here and it’s like I forgot how to speak.
“How else am I going to make sure Ghost Pepper Dick gets a cameo in the show?”
Laughter burbles out of me. “I can’t believe he asked you that! You do not have to put his hot sauce in the show.”
“Oh no.” Blake’s arms come around my waist. “Not just his hot sauce, Gem. Him. People will love him.”
“Any other people from town you expect to have in the show?”
“I’m sure Mrs. Phillips and Mrs. Reynolds will angle the producers for a spot, too.”
“That’s all?”
Blake’s eyes focus on me. I feel his stare everywhere.
And I meaneverywhere.
“Are you trying to see if you’re in the show?”
