I remembered my conversation with Wren and decided to push it.

“Slade, I care about you. Let me go with you for support. It’s what, an eight, nine-hour drive? When we get there, I can be with you as much or as little as you want. We can book a hotel room and I can stay away if you’d rather be with your family.”

“I’d really like that. Thank you.”

Slade’s kisses always took my breath away, but this one felt even more reverent than usual. As though he didn’t know how to thank me with words. If only he knew there was nothing to thank me for. I’d be there for him any time.

“Right, now that we have that sorted, who wants a slice of apple pie?” I said, pulling on his beard.

“God you’re an amazing man, Aiden Lawton.”

"Who's going to keep an eye on Harley?" Aiden asked.

Weird question, but it was early in the day. "Liam will make sure nothing happens to her."

"Okay, that's good. Right, I'm driving, which means you're the deejay. A word of warning. I take my driving music very seriously," Aiden said, giving me a side-look and a smile before focusing back to the road.

The sun was barely up in the sky. Aiden had suggested we travel earlier in the morning rather than set off immediately and need an extra night halfway to Atlanta.

I felt a lot more rested this morning than I thought I would. I had Aiden to thank for that, too, because he'd taken care of me in every sense of the word.

We'd had Momma Ruth's apple pie from Benny's, and then I’d packed my stuff and taken Aiden back to his place so he could grab more clothes. When we got back, he cooked us dinner, keeping me distracted throughout by doing it buck naked.

After dinner he decided we should pick random books from my bookshelf and read the sex scenes aloud. It didn't take long until we broke down in fits of laughter at how silly they all sounded when read out of context.

Laughter gave way to making out, which gave way to making love.

I took the opportunity that Aiden was driving to check him out. He'd given me so much last night. There was no mistake there, we'd made love to each other.

The heat was there, as was his dirty talk. Who knew he had such a dirty mouth when he topped? I'd happily bottom for the rest of my life just to hear him give himself over to the power of his body and the need to chase his orgasm.

"I can feel your eyes on me. And no, no blowjobs while I'm driving."

I laughed aloud.

"What, are you saying I was the only one thinking that? Damn," he said.

I connected my phone to his car and looked for the music streaming app.

"Before you do that, can I ask you a question?"

"Sure." I put the phone on my lap and turned in my seat to face him.

"I've been working through my plot and trying to figure out my character's connection to the motorcycle club, what he did there, but also how he got out. Although I'm not sure I want him out. I don't want him to give up something that is so important to him."

"What kind of business does the MC do?"

"What do you mean?"

"Remember I told you how the MC is like a family business. You have a hierarchy, which dictates what kind of power each member has. MCs also run businesses, and they vary from doing charitable work to illegal stuff and everything in between."

Aiden seemed to think about it for a moment. "I'd like them to do charitable things. The conflict between my characters is the reason they separated, heightened by the time they spent apart. The other guy made assumptions about what kind of stuff bikers do, so I'd like my biker to show the reader that he's not a bad guy."

I liked Aiden's idea. Selfishly, I hadn't wanted his character to be an outlaw.
