He hadn’t said much about his lunch with Griff, but they were both smiling and looking relaxed on their way back.
“You can kiss me,” I said, straightening his hair.
“Oh, really? And I won’t get in trouble with the boss?”
“You certainly won’t get in trouble with this boss.”
As soon as our lips touched, Jake melted into me. His little sighs mixed with my own breath as we kissed over and over again.
My dick hardened, and I knew Jake could feel it because he pulled away from the kiss and leaned his forehead against mine with a groan.
“Could we maybe go out on a date sometime?” he asked.
“Of course. I was thinking about it earlier. I’d love to spend time with you outside of work.”
His smile lit up the office. Had he been working himself up to asking me out?
I wanted to laugh at the thought because, in so many ways, Jake was quite forward and open, and after his initial concerns about being an extra part in my relationship with Griff, he’d fit in perfectly with us.
“Come on, let’s shut down and go home.”
He stood up and then froze, looking toward the office.
“What’s up?”
“Nothing. I thought I saw something out there, but maybe I imagined it.”
I hated the hiding and especially hated all the time I’d recently spent with Frank while hiding my relationship with Jake.
But I wasn’t sure I was ready to tell the world I was with two men.
Was it selfish to want to keep this to ourselves for a little longer? It probably was. It’s not like Griff or I had any family left to care or have an opinion. But Jake did, and they were important to him.
“I’m sorry, baby, that was my fault. I shouldn’t have done that. It was inappropriate to do it here in the office,” I said.
Jake smiled. “No, you should totally have done it. I needed it. But yes, we need to be careful. The moment we become careless is when we’ll be found out.”
I nodded. He was saying all the right things, but fuck if I didn’t hate that this was the situation.
We walked together to the staff parking lot, where our cars were next to each other. I opened the door to my car and leaned over the roof.
“We miss you. You know that, right?”
“I know. I miss you too. Zak has shit timing. I might have to kill him.”
I smiled and waved goodbye.
It was too quiet when I got home, so I put my bag down in the hallway and went searching for Griff.
I found him asleep, hunched over his laptop in the office. He’d likely been working all afternoon.
“Hey, sleepyhead,” I said, running my hand down his back gently.
He woke up, taking a deep breath and then opening his eyes, smiling when he saw me.
“What time is it?”
“Just after seven, baby. Want to join me in the shower? I’ll cook you dinner after.”
