And now we knew why Tom had recommended this particular vet. Also why there was such a long line of mainly women with their pets outside.

"Hello, Micah. I'm Aiden, this is my boyfriend, Slade, and our daughter, Harley."

Slade coughed to disguise his laugh, but I didn't miss his look of pride when Harley didn't attack the vet. Maybe even she had a crush on him.

I mean tall, blond hair, green eyes. He had eye candy written all over him.

When Micah started his examination, my anxiety increased. Thank goodness Slade was there with me.

"Okay, so she's healthy and seems like a happy kitten. I'd say she's four, maybe five months old, and may have been the runt of the litter, which is why she's quite small. There's no chip on her either. I'm sad to say she may have been abandoned, but it seems like she's found a nice family to adopt."

Slade laughed. "You got that right."

Minutes later we left the practice as the official parents of Miss Harley Warren-Lawton.

I put my arm around Slade's waist while he had Harley in her carrier.

"I can't imagine life being more perfect than it is right now," I said.

"Not going to argue there, sweetheart."

We crossed the town square toward our street. I stopped and glanced around. It was another beautiful summer day. Soon it would be autumn and with it all the beautiful colors of the changing season.

"You know,” I said, looking up at my gorgeous boyfriend, “after everything that happened with Richard, my parents, and when I couldn't write, I thought I just couldn't catch a break. But something—chance, fate, whatever—made me get into my car and drive. And look at me now. I caught myself a bunch of friends, a new home, and, more importantly, I caught myself a sexy silver-fox biker."

"Oh, Aiden…you caught my heart and soul when you saw me that first time. You caught me when I was falling, and I know you will for as long as we both shall live."

"You should put that in your vows," I said.

He widened his eyes and pulled me closer. "I hope that's you asking."

"I hope that's you saying yes."
