I also needed to remember that while my uncle and Gabe didn’t know about my relationship with Mal and Griff, Zak knew.
He wouldn’t knowingly out us, but he knew I was close with my family and probably assumed this wasn’t a secret.
I put a clean pair of underwear on and got under the sheets.
Weaving a web of lies didn’t sit well with me, especially when it came to my family, but I also wasn’t sure I was prepared to be open.
Sometime later, there were still no solutions, but sleep eventually took over.
I could worry another day.

GRIFF
Walking through the resort was a strange experience. We’d lived on-site in the last one, so everyone knew me. Now, I’d been stopped by staff several times and had to explain my presence.
It was reassuring that everyone was mindful of security, but more than a few staff members had raised a brow when I’d explained I was Mal’s husband, but I was here to see Jake.
There was nothing wrong with meeting a friend for lunch, so I ignored them and went looking for the man who’d made himself a nice cozy place inside my heart, right alongside Mal.
Jake was talking to a girl at the reception desk and didn’t see me as I walked in, so I stopped to take him in before I gave my presence away.
He wore the navy slacks I always thought brought out his amazing ass, paired with a white button-down, with the sleeves rolled up his forearms.
More than once, I saw the girl’s eyes scan over Jake’s arms and chest.
I know, honey. He’s gorgeous.
But it wasn’t just his looks that made me feel hot all over or made my heart rate increase a little when I saw him.
Jake had a quiet but confident presence. His body language as he spoke to his colleague was open, calm, and also totally unaware that she was hitting on him.
Nice try, honey. He’s taken.
“Ogling my staff is not permitted on the premises.”
Mal’s voice from behind me made me jump a little but also gave me a shiver up my spine.
“Oh really? I guess I’ll have to remove your staff from the premises,” I said, turning around to face my husband.
His hair was a little disheveled, as if he’d been running his hands through it a lot.
“Is everything okay?” I asked.
“Yeah, just some teething problems with the construction work company.”
The dark circles under his eyes told me otherwise, but I knew him well. If he wanted to talk about anything, he’d do it when he was ready.
“There’s a gorgeous guy coming this way. About your height, light-brown hair, or dark blond, depending on the lighting, bright blue eyes, and I bet he’s packing a nice one too. Play your cards right, and you might get lucky,” he said before he walked away.
“Tease,” I said back, smiling as his shoulders moved with his laughter.
“What’s he teasing you about?” Jake asked, coming up to me.
“Apparently, you’re a sure thing if I play my cards right.”
He tilted his head and smiled. His eyes, light blue like the ocean on a summer’s day, shone brightly.
