Even though I hadn’t been home, we’d spoken on the phone and messaged each other. He was nervous about his finals.

“Next week.”

“You’ll do great. You know that, right?”

“Yeah…”

He didn’t sound too sure of himself.

I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around him. He hugged back tight.

“Are you staying here this week?” he asked.

I hadn’t planned on it, but Zak was here, so that had taken the decision out of my hands.

“Yeah, I am, little bro.”

He nodded and left.

“So…” Zak started, but I held my hand up.

“Do we need to go somewhere else for this conversation?”

He raised his eyebrows.

“Oh…you want to rehash the old times?” he asked, drinking the rest of his beer and placing the bottle next to the sink.

“Hell no. Do I look like I need to rehash the old times?”

I was joking, but he looked me up and down and whistled.

“No, you most definitely don’t. Are you working out? You look a lot—”

“Let’s go to my room.”

I left my half-drunk bottle next to Zak’s and indicated for him to follow me.

On the way past the staircase, I saw Zak’s suitcase and grabbed it, leaving it in the spare room next to mine before leading us to my room.

Zak sat on my bed, and I could swear I saw something pass through his eyes before he smiled wide. “So this is where all your wet dreams happen…nice.”

He jumped a little on the mattress, impressed with the lack of noise. That had been one of the worst things about our old place. Both our beds creaked so much, the neighbors used to bang on the wall when we had sex until we started using far more creative and fun places in the apartment.

“What’s that smile on your face?” he asked.

“Nothing. Just remembered the fun we had at the old apartment.”

He laughed. “Should I be offended that with such amazing memories, there’s no hint of even a semi under your slacks?”

“We did have a lot of fun, but strangely, it’s easy for me to separate that time from now. We always knew our time together served a purpose, and it would end after graduation. I’m not going to say I love you like a brother because…ew…but I do love you. I just don’t want to get naked with you.”

“Speaking of getting naked. Damn, man, you never said how hot your cousin is. I mean, there’s hot, and then there’s him.”

“You’re not hooking up with Gabe.”

Zak straightened up.

“Why not?”
