“Yup, and don’t think I haven’t noticed you take a little longer chatting to the guests with children to make sure they really feel welcomed here.”

“Truly despicable.”

“I could go on, but—”

I couldn’t finish my thought because Mal lifted me up and dropped me on our bed, covering my body with his bigger, sturdier one.

“But…”

I wanted to talk, but with his hands all over me, it was hard to concentrate.

“I…I, you…never mind, just make love to me. Fuck packing. We can pay someone.”

He laughed, and I didn’t need him to say anything else. We were back on track, and if I needed to stop packing to show my man how much he meant to me, then I’d do it today and every single day for the rest of our lives.

One of my favorite things to do was watch Mal sleep. Maybe it was because I didn’t get to do it often, so when I had the chance, I didn’t want to miss out.

He looked tired from working extra hours to ensure all his staff had the support they needed until his boss hired another resort manager.

When we met, he’d been upfront about his career goals and had told me he didn’t see himself staying in Florida longer than two years.

I’d laughed at him and told him that if he was trying to find a way to put me off him, then he’d need to do better.

As an indie author, I could work from wherever I wanted, and despite never having left Florida, there was something about moving all the way across the country to the west coast that made me feel as though it opened a whole new world for me and my writing.

I was excited about the move and especially for Mal’s new career opportunity.

Today was his official last day at this resort before we moved in a few days, but it was also our wedding anniversary. So I’d made a deal with his assistant manager, who promised we wouldn’t be disturbed until after breakfast.

I wanted my husband for myself this morning. After I was done with him, they could spend the day saying goodbye to their boss.

Mal’s eyelids moved as though he were dreaming. He reached out for me in his sleep and took a deep breath in when I scooted closer.

“I’m here, baby,” I whispered. I ran my hands gently over his face and placed a soft kiss on his lips.

“Hmm, love you,” he said into my mouth, deepening the kiss.

I could only moan my reply before I was flat on my back with his bigger body on top of mine.

“I thought you were asleep,” I chuckled.

“I was, but you were in my dream, and I decided I wanted the real thing.”

He rolled his hips, pressing his erection against mine. Enough to take my breath away, but not enough to give us any kind of relief.

“Here I am, baby. As real as I can be, and all yours.” I wrapped my arms around his neck, licking my lips to entice him to kiss me again.

“Griff,” he said, moving to lay by my side again. Mal’s blue eyes had captivated me from the day I saw him across the grocery store aisle, but when they were as stormy as they were now, I worried for him.

“What’s up? Are you okay?” I asked.

“Yeah…I just…I had a weird dream, that’s all.”

“Do you want to tell me about it?”

He scrunched his nose and shook his head.

“Come on, it’s only a dream, but you may feel better sharing it.”
