Saber frowned. “How is that?”

“It would make sense if people with gifts could somehow connect, especially if they’re siblings.”

“Nathan and Kadence do it,” Asher said. “He can slow her visions down so she can see them better, and he sees them too.”

Brie’s mouth parted before she started grinning. “See! Then it really could explain why you shared my vision!”

Saber wasn’t completely willing to buy into this, but she did have some good points. “Maybe.”

“No matter what, time will tell. As the days pass, you’ll have more chances to see if you have an ability because I doubt you tried to heal many animals, vamps, or people while you were a Savage.”

Saber issued a small snort of laughter. “The idea of helping anyone, or anything, was the last thing on my mind. Most of those I encountered, I killed.”

He heard the familiar defensiveness in his voice and tried to curb it, but he was once a monster, and if they were going to love him, they had to understand that.

“I figured that,” Brie said. “But like I said, I think you may have the ability to heal. Maybe one day we’ll learn I’m wrong, or maybe we’ll learn I’m right. There’s no harm in finding out; only good can come from it.”

“You never liked admitting when you were wrong.”

“She still doesn’t,” Asher muttered, and Brie playfully slapped his chest.

“Neither did you,” Brie said to Saber.

“That’s because I was never wrong.”

Brie rolled her eyes, and Caro laughed. Saber draped his arm around his sister’s shoulders again and turned her toward the building. They’d talked briefly while he was with Caro, but he still had questions.

“Haveallof the injected returned to normal?” He knew the ones here had, but he didn’t know about any others. “Even those in Arizona?”

“Yes,” Asher answered. “Allof them are doing well.”

“I guess that means the demons are all dead,” Brie said hopefully.

“Maybe,” Saber hedged. “But maybe not. I’m sure there are still more in Hell, but I doubt any remain on Earth. I’m pretty sure they all showed up to that fight. But even if they didn’t, we still have the swords and decimated their numbers. They’ll die if they’re stupid enough to try rising against us again.”

Caro shuddered at the idea of going up against those hideous things once more, but she’d do whatever was necessary to keep them from destroying the earth.

“Things have been quiet since their defeat,” Asher said.

But as the words left his mouth, Ronan, Declan, and Killean strode out the door, armed for battle. Willow, Kadence, and Simone strolled out behind them.

“What’s going on?” Saber asked as they stopped walking.

“It sounds like there’s been a Savage attack by the waterfront in Boston; we’re going to check it out,” Ronan said.

“I’ll come with you.”

“No,” Ronan clasped Saber’s shoulder. “Stay here and get settled in with your mate.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes. It doesn’t sound too bad; if what we’ve heard turns out to be wrong, we’ll call for backup. Besides, we have to finish with the tunnels tomorrow, so get settled in now.”

They already had everything mapped out in the tunnels, got cameras they could set up afterward to constantly monitor what would remain of the tunnels, and had gathered the explosives for him.

Tomorrow, they would all head back to Hell, but he’d be happy if he didn’t have to leave Caro today. “Okay.”

Ronan squeezed his shoulder before releasing it. “It’s good to have you back.”
