Once he was nestled deep within her, she broke the kiss to look at him again. Though he hadn’t rushed anything and was letting her lead, his red eyes told her he was close to the edge. He never would have asked her for this, but he desperately needed it too.

Smiling, she leaned forward and kissed him again as she rose before sliding down his rigid length. When her mouth traveled to his throat, his hands clenched on her ass as her fangs sank into him.

“Fuck me,” he groaned.

Caro stopped feeding on him to reply with a chuckle, “That’s what I’m doing.”

Saber laughed as his mouth fell to her throat, and he inhaled her beautiful, enticing scent. Her salty air and ocean aroma grew stronger with every rise and fall of her hips.

Unable to resist any longer, he bit down and moaned when her blood rushed into his mouth. She tasted different, but nearly every drop of her blood had been replaced by his and blood bags. Over time, she’d turn it into her own again.

Their minds mingled while their blood and bodies became one, and the mate bond surged between them. Being with her was always a wonder, but after nearly losing her, this joining was more profound and better than ever.

When she came with a muffled cry against his neck, he bit down harder. This time, he didn’t pull out as he followed her over the edge.

The moonand stars were out, but Caro hadn’t moved from his lap as she remained straddling him with her head on his chest. Saber ran his hand up and down her back while savoring the feel of her. His chest swelled with emotion.

I love youformed on the tip of his tongue and lodged in his throat. He tried to say the words, she should hear them, and it was how he felt, but he couldn’t get them out.

When she lifted her head and smiled at him, his breath failed as his heart skipped a beat. She was more beautiful than any woman he’d ever seen before, and she washis.

How could he go into battle against a demon and still not be able to tell her how he felt? She’d almost died without hearing those words; he’d longed to get the chance to say them to her while he’d desperately willed her back to life.

And now, she was here, smiling at him, and the words were failing him again. He wouldnotbe a coward; hewouldtell her how he felt.

“I love you,” he managed to get out in a voice choked with emotion.

Her radiant smile caused joy to thrum through him. His hands constricted on her as love swelled in his chest and her eyes danced in the moonlight.

“I know,” she said.

He hadn’t expected that response. “You do?”

Caro laughed as she rested her palms against his bewildered face. At one time, he’d deeply loved his family, but that was many centuries ago, and now the emotion was more of a mystery than a necessity to him. It was there though; she didn’t doubt it.

“Even if you can’t say the words, or have trouble with them, your actions show your love.” Then she reconsidered her response. “Maybe notallyour actions; you’re often a stubborn, thickheaded, alpha a-hole of a man, but much of what you do reveals your love.

“The way you look at and touch me tells me more than your words how much you love me. But how you fought to bring me back, refused to give up on me, and damn near ruined yourself to save me tells me exactly how you feel about me.”

She placed a hand over his heart. “I don’t need the words because Iknowwhat you feel.”

At first, he was too stunned to respond as he sat and studied her face. This woman would never cease to amaze him.

“You may notneedthe words,” he said, “but you want them.”

She lifted a shoulder in a small shrug. “I wantyou, not words. And I have you.”

“Yes, you do. Forever.”

“I know.”

He chuckled as he rested his forehead against hers, closed his eyes, and inhaled their scents as they mingled in the air. Their aromas were as joined as the two of them.

“It’s going to take a while, but I’m going to give you those words every day,” he vowed.

She kissed his nose and each of his cheeks before finding his mouth again. “And no matter how long it takes, I’ll be here to hear them and tell you how much I love you.”
