“I always take notes of everything. It’s much easier to refer to my books when I want to look something up.” He pulled a little black book out of someplace and held it up for me to see. “And I’m still here because this couch is comfortable.”

Great so he was making notes of me fucking. I pinched the bridge of my nose. I shouldn’t have asked. This man was going to drive me to drink. Well drink more than I already did.

He wiggled a little deeper and sighed. Such a strange combination of personalities, this guy was. I had visions of the egg he was made from trying to swim away from the sperm like it knew they weren’t a great match, but the sperm tied the egg up until it submitted. I was fucking tired. That was the only reason for that random thought

“Don’t you have a bed?”

“I have a cot, and most of it is taken up with the object of my affection. She steals the blankets and wraps them around her like a cocoon. Is this a girl trait? I find it much harder to fuck her like that. We usually have a rumble session over the blankets first. She’s very possessive of them.”

“You don’t say,” I drawled out and covered my eyes as I pictured what he was putting this girl through.

Wilder sat up and produced a pen from thin air like he performed a magic trick. I felt like asking what was next, a rabbit? My luck, that would be exactly what Wilder pulled out of his cargo pants. That, of course, would lead to more questions I didn’t want to know the answers to. Like, ‘Why the fuck is there a rabbit in your pants?’

“I don’t know if it’s a girl trait. The only girl that has stayed the night with me is Raine, and she didn’t steal them, but she may now, after waking up to a strange man in our bed.”

“I’m not a stranger,” he said, his brow knitting together.

“To her, you were. She doesn’t know you, Wilder. You scared the shit out of her. Not literal shit, I don’t mean she shit the bed, although I’m sure she felt like it.” The fact I had to explain this boggled my mind.

“Hmm.” Wilder rubbed at his chin. “I see.”

“I’m going to bed. Do you need me to let you out?” I asked and then realized I didn’t have the alarm code.

“No, I have a key.” Of course, you do. “And I have the code, so no worries, the place will be secure once more.” Except from you, was all I could think.

Creepy fucker.

When Wilder continued to sit and stare at me, I gave up and hit the light switch, plunging us into darkness as I turned to leave.

“Snake?”

I was so close to escaping, so, so close. He saved my life. I repeated that in my head as I turned to face him once more.

“Yes, Wilder,” I said, hoping my voice didn’t sound as annoyed as I felt.

“Why do you choose to sleep with your enemy?”

There was a movie title in there somewhere. “I’m not. They’re not my enemy.” I really hated that—of all people—it was fucking Wilder that made me say that out loud.

“Avro did sucker punch you in the face. You don’t consider that an enemy?”

Of course, he saw that humiliating moment, the guy sees everything. “No, it was payback for doing it to him.”

“Is that how you and your friends like to treat each other? I would think punching someone in the face and then, have them punch you back would not make them your friend.”

How did I say Avro wasn’t exactly my friend, but also not my enemy. “No, I…forget it. It’s too hard to explain. The point is he’s not my enemy.” Twice he made me say it, twice. Fucking guy. “And I’m technically not sleeping with them. Well, I’m sleeping with them if I ever get back to bed, but I’m not fucking them. Do you see the difference?”

“You lay with them but are not sticking your cock in them. Yeah, I get it.” Wilder leaned back on the couch once more, his eyes closing. “I don’t know if I could share the object of my affection, but maybe I should try. Do you think maybe she needs more cocks to make her happy?”

I opened my mouth to say that probably wasn’t the problem but then decided, nope, I wasn’t getting involved. I didn’t know who this girl was, and the last thing I needed was to get involved with Wilder’s drama, kidnapping, or whatever he had going on. For all I knew, the guy had a Stockholm syndrome fantasy he was playing out. Who was I to stand in the way of a good fantasy coming true?

“I can’t answer that question. Shouldn’t you get going? What if this object of your affection needs you, and you’re not there?”

He shrugged and then smiled. “She won’t. I got her watered, fed, and changed her piss pot. She was curled up on the cot and asleep before I left. Plus, I can watch her at any time. See.”

He pulled his cell from his pocket and held it up for me. I couldn’t see who was in the image from this far away, but the security camera clearly showed someone curled up on their side on a low cot. It was barely big enough for one person, let alone two.

I couldn’t believe I was going to ask this and knew I’d probably regret it, but I found my mouth open. “Wilder, have you considered unchaining her?”
