“You’re seeing someone?”

“Yes. I mean, no. Not exactly.” He arches a questioning brow. “I’m more emotionally unavailable than I am physically. What I mean is, I’m not with anyone else in the physical sense, but I’m talking to someone. We plan on meeting.”

“When?”

His direct question throws me for a second. “Um, I’m not sure. A day, a week… What does it matter when?”

“Just trying to figure out how serious it is. See what my chances are here.”

“It’s serious enough that my feelings are conflicted where you’re concerned.”

Will leans in closer, his gorgeous eyes peering deep into mine, probing for the answers to my secrets. “Meaning?”

I swallow thickly. “Meaning I have strong feelings for him. We connect on levels I’ve never experienced before. But then I see you, and despite your age, I can’t deny that I’m attracted to you. That maybe there’s something between us, too. It’s confusing.”

“Okay, here’s the way I see it,” he says. “You’ve been talking with this guy and have a great connection, but you don’t even have solid plans to meet yet. So you have to admit there’s a chance you’ll never meet him in person. Right?”

I pick up my mug and hold it with both hands like some kind of shield. “Technically speaking, it’s a possibility, yes.”

“In the meantime, you have a red-blooded man right here who wants to spend time with you. You have no real commitment to this other guy, so what’s stopping you from exploring things with me? Besides my age, because that excuse is weak.”

“It’s not just that,” I say. “He’s helped me discover a side of myself I didn’t know I had. We’re compatible beyond anything I’ve had with anyone else. I don’t want to mess it up before it’s even had a chance.”

Will rubs at the scruff on his jaw in thought. “I have to admit, that sounds pretty intense. And as much as I hate losing to a man inside your phone, I suppose I’ll concede.” Flashing me a wolfish grin, he adds, “For now.”

I exhale in relief. It’s definitelynotdisappointment. “Thank you.”

“But you’ve heard my sales pitch. All I ask is that you give it some thought, okay?”

Chuckling, I say, “I have a feeling it’ll be hard not to.”

“Good.” Will checks his watch and winces. “Shit, I have to go.”

“Oh, yeah, me too. I’ll walk out with you.”

We gather our things and head towards the exit. Ian’s words from the previous night echo in my mind as we step outside.

“Will, before you go…”

Before the idea has a chance to fully form, I find myself doing the unthinkable. I brace my hands on his strong shoulders, raise up on my toes, andkiss him. He’s only stunned for a millisecond before he grabs my face and takes control on a deep growl.

Will coaxes my lips open up for him, and he commits an outright assault on my senses. The world disappears around us as he licks inside my mouth, massages my tongue with his, and nips at my lower lip like he’s marking me with his desire.

Several breathless minutes later, he finally pulls away and stares down at me with lust-glazed eyes and kiss-bruised lips. “Not that I’m complaining, but what was that for?”

“Did you ever play Truth or Dare as a kid?” He nods. “In a way, this was a dare. And it helped me discover a new truth about myself, so…thanks.”

I start walking backwards, enjoying the stunned amusement on Will’s face. After four delicious seconds, I spin on my heel and turn the corner, pulling out my phone.

Sara:

Mission accomplished.

Ian:

Tell me everything.
