Once we find our rhythm, I take my time with her, trying out every position imaginable. It’s no easy feat to keep from releasing. The overwhelming pleasure that comes from fucking Rebecca is almost too much to bear, but I want her to feel good.

Eventually, she ends up on top. I’m mesmerized by her, riding me like she owns me—and she does now. I belong to her. I’ll give her anything she wants, do anything to make her happy. My woman will be my number one priority. It feels good to finally have someone that I can promise that to.

She rolls her hips around; her hands pressed firmly against my pecs. “I’m going to come, Kellan.” Her eyes pinch closed as I grip her hips, encouraging her.

“Come for me, baby.” I press my hips upward as Rebecca’s mouth forms a perfect o-shape. She lets out a long moan, her hair flying over her face as she rides me to completion. Finally, I’m able to let go. I come so hard; I nearly see stars.

I also see the missing piece of the equation that my research has been missing all these years. I knew she was special, but I didn’t know she’d be the missing link, the final piece of the puzzle that would bring my project to a close.

Rebecca repositions herself so she’s lying on top of me, her body practically melding with mine. “That was amazing,” I whisper, pressing a kiss to her damp temple.

“Agreed.” Still breathless, she traces a circle on my stomach. I sense something she’s not telling me in the silence that follows. Finally, she speaks. “Something strange happened, Kellan.”

I want to agree with her, but I don’t want to tell her that I was thinking of my research when I came, even if it does directly involve her. “What?”

“I think I know what’s missing from the data.” She raises her head, a smile plastered on her lips. When she opens her mouth to speak, I pull her close and press my lips against hers.

“I already know,” I admit.

“You do?”

“As fucking weird as this is, I totally saw it too.”

The cutest laugh escapes her lips. As if this woman couldn’t get any more beautiful. “We’re magic.”

I brush her hair away from her face. The overwhelming realization that my life was completely lacking before I met Rebecca comes at me with flying colors. Not only is she absolutely gorgeous, funny, and intuitive to a fault, but she’s the smartest person I’ve ever met. Without her, I’d be puttering in the lab, waiting for my life to begin.

“You’re magic,” I say and pull her closer, ready to prove to her again and again just how wonderful I think she is.

Epilogue

Seven YearsLater

I knew from the start that working with Dr. Kellan Jameson would be a challenge. I just never imagined how big of a learning curve I would need. Lucky for me, I’ve completely broken through his tough exterior, and now, it’s safe to say Kellan is one of the biggest softies I’ve ever met.

The hinges on our screen door in our mountainside cabin squeak as my gorgeous husband brings two cups of hot chocolate out to the screened-in porch. “Can you see anything?”

“Not yet, Mr. Impatient.” I playfully roll my eyes.

“Don’t act like you’re any different.” He presses a soft kiss against my cheek. “I know you too well.” He’s right. I love coming up to our cabin in the fall and checking out all the gorgeous stars lining the sky. It’s nice to finally have the opportunity to leave the lab on occasion and breathe it all in.

After we went back to work together, I finished my dissertation in record time—but that was the least exciting thing for us at that point. What we found together was that our chemistry brought about some serious breakthroughs, enough so that the American Astronomical Society granted us an award for our research in the form of an insane amount of grant money to continue the good fight.

It was a dream come true for both of us, and we had each other to thank. Neither one of us could’ve done it without the other. We’ve been by each other’s side ever since, both in the lab and in life.

We didn’t wait another second. As crazy as it seemed to the people around us, we got married after I graduated. It was just three months after our first night together. Things are working out splendidly, though.

For the first time in my life, I’m not worried about having enough money to continue my love of science. I’ve been granted enough money to live comfortably, but even more comfort comes from the fact that I’ve got the love of my life by my side.

“It’s so damn smoggy tonight.” Kellan steps toward the screen, peering upward.

“Well, we’re not going to get a good view from in here.” I rise from my chair and grab a blanket from the nearby sofa. “Come on.”

We head down the steps and into the middle of the open field on the side of our house. I throw down the blanket and settle on my back. Kellan follows suit, throwing the other blanket over the top of us. I nuzzle into the crook of his neck, and he pulls me close, our body heat warming each other.

“This is much better.”

“Yes indeed, Dr. Jameson.”

“Is it weird that I love it when you call me that?” He presses himself against me. Of course, I know this about him. It riles him up every time.

“Yeah,” I tease. “You’re my professor.” I roll over onto my side to face him, playing into our little role-playing game. “You really shouldn’t be so horny around me.” I brush a lock of his overgrown hair away from his forehead.

“I can’t help it.” He growls. “I’ve never wanted to fuck a student before, but I can’t stop thinking about you.” He kisses me, pressing his hard length against me, and we make love under the stars, one of which is now named after us.
