“Sarah?” Aiden’s fingers work into my muscles, keeping me in place. “What is it?”
“There’s a reason why my body hurts all the time, and for why my energy is low.”
He nods, his gaze open with concern.
“I have fibromyalgia.”
His brow furrows. “I’ve heard of that, but I don’t recall what it is.”
“It’s a disorder that comes with pain, fatigue and sometimes mood and memory issues. They don’t know exactly why some people develop it, but it’s pretty common. Some people have it for a period of time, and others live with it the rest of their lives. I wasn’t properly diagnosed until last year, though based on my symptoms, I’ve probably been dealing with it for several years.”
“What symptoms do you have?”
“I had a lot of anxiety but I manage that with medication. Mainly it’s headaches, fatigue, and musculoskeletal pain. My symptoms aren’t as bad as others.”Yet, anyway.“Thank God for meds.”
“Sarah.” He stops massaging my foot.
“Yeah?”
“I’m so sorry.”
“It’s fine.” At least that’s what I’ve been telling myself. Though I’m not sure that’s true anymore. Serving at the diner is brutal on my body. The stress of the last year is even worse. I’m not taking care of myself the way I should be.
“I can’t imagine being on your feet for work helps.”
“Yeah, it doesn’t.” I pull my feet back and wrap my arms around my knees, hugging them to me. “But this was perfect tonight.” In more ways than one.
“We’ll come back here. As often as you want.”
“That’s sort of impractical.” I flash him a smile. “I do wish I had access to a hot tub, though. Or a bath.”
“Come to my dad’s cabin after work. Any time. Every fucking day. You can soak in the tub and I’ll rub your feet.”
“Aiden.” I can’t accept that offer.Can I?“That’s too much.”
“Is it?” The grin on his lips as he moves toward me sends my pulse racing. He reaches for my legs and tugs, pulling me away from the edge of the water. “Because I’m just getting started, Sarah.”
I spread my legs, straddling him and looping my arms around his neck so I don’t fall under. “So, you don’t just want to do naughty things to me when we’re in the middle of nowhere?”
“I want to do all sorts of things to you. Everywhere. Always.”
My breath catches. Partly because I don’t think he’s lying, and also because the hard outline of his cock presses against my belly. Need thrums low in my belly.
“I should get you home.” He sighs. “You need to rest.”
“Aiden?”
“Yeah?”
“Promise me you won’t treat me differently.” I hate the change in his demeanor already. I might not have the same amount of energy as most people, but I don’t want him treating me as if I’m not capable. “You don’t have to be careful. I can take it.” I swivel my hips to drive home my point.
His gaze drops to my lips. “You like it when I’m rough with you?”
“I like it when you treat me like I’m not broken.”
His gaze is intense as it meets mine. “Tell me exactly what you want me to do and I’ll do it.”
There’s power in his words. I get to choose. He’ll deliver too.
