“I don’t know, thought maybe you would put me in the spare bed and go watch something downstairs.”

“As if I am not going to be right beside you if you are in bed, and we have crossed that bridge of you going back to the spare room. It’s either my bed or yours.” He put me down when we had reached his room and I grabbed my pajamas from where I left them this morning and changed into them. Once I was under the covers, he turned off the light and I curled into his side.

“Did you talk to Savannah today?”

“Yes, and I told her that you would do it for her, but Cash had to apologize, and they needed to accept that we were back together and leave shit in the past.”

“Oh yes, how did that go?”

“Savannah I wasn’t worried about. Cash agreed to though so let’s see if hell freezes over and you get that apology.”

“I’m not worried about that. I just want the arguing to stop.”

“No, he can’t just treat you that way and not own up to his actions. I’m not letting it slide.”

“Do you think I should talk to Mom?”

“When you are ready.”

“Wont it be awkward on the weekend without it?”

“No, they aren’t going to be there, so why would it be.”

“Your mom and mine are best friends though, they have been since we were little. Not that I am complaining, it meant that I could spend a lot of time with you…”

“I told Savannah not to invite them unless she wanted tension but as it’s a family day for them, she would only invite them if you wanted them there.”

“Guess there is no point debating that, is there?”

“Nope. If it was one of Ma and Pops’s barbeques, then I would say try and talk to her but it’s not. Cash and Savannah are running this one, so let’s just let them enjoy their news and we can worry about your mom later.” With a yawn, I nuzzled into his neck and tried to relax.

“Okay, Romeo, putting it in the ‘deal with it later’ pile.” He chuckled.

“Good, now sleep, stubborn girl.”

“Yes, sir.” With the feel of his fingers running along my arm, I drifted off to sleep again.

The next few days went in a blur and before I knew it, it was the weekend. Austin had done his best to get me to tell him what the baby’s gender was, but I had kept that to myself. Other than their doctor, I was the only person who knew, and I was kind of loving that power. I kept my outfit simple, no color, so that I wasn’t giving anything away subconsciously and made sure Austin was the same. I wasn’t letting him taunt them today. They would all find out soon enough. We did a quick stop by the shop where I had left their cakes, deciding on individual cupcakes with the color baked inside. I went back and forth on one big cake or lots of little ones and thought this would be the easier option. No cutting cakes and easier to divide up if the others wanted to take some home later.

When we were headed out to his parents’ place, he looked over at me. “I’m not telling you so quit looking at me like that.”

“I wasn’t going to ask again. I have given up. Did Cash ever come and apologize to you?”

“Yeah, he came in yesterday and bought some cupcakes for the guys at work, thanked me for doing their cake for them and apologized. The first two would have been enough for me, knowing how he is with things like that, but he used his words.”

“Dammit, now I owe Beau a round of drinks the next time we go out. I was sure that he wasn’t going to do it.” I shook my head.

“Way to have faith in your brother, Romeo.”

“Duchess, you said it yourself! He couldn’t even tell Savannah that he loved her. Yet you got an ‘I’m sorry’ out of him?”

“I got more than that, but sure let’s go with that.”

“Why, what else did he say?”

“I’m not saying a word.”
